Hi I'm having problems with the transmission after third shift it jumps into neutral for like five seconds then jumps hard into fourth, I purchased a OBDll CAN scaner and it read P0750 Shift Solenoid A Malfunction I cleared the code and the car ran perfect for like two days and started all over with the same code, how hard is it to replace this solenoid and witch one is it in the transmission box and do you think this will take care the problem, I went to the ford dealer and one solenoid cost $100 not bad but it shows 3 in the transmission witch one is it?, I know if I take it to a transmission shop they just want to replace the transmission to make more money, I'm a aircraft mechanic and I think I can do this but I need more information from someone thats been thru this problem before, thank you in advance for your help.

UPDATE 8/9/2007: Now the code won't clear & the engine light resets off and comes back up within 2 minutes (It's getting worst HELP)

Thank god, someone got the diagram, i have the same problem but a little different, my solenoid A been acting up, and i replace it with a second hand, and put everything together close fluid pan and pour transmission oil in it again, and test it up with the scanner on hand, it keeps giving me the P0750 code. The next day i remove everything again and put the Shift Solenoid B at A and put another second hand at B. It start and run realy good, after 2 days and a halve, the same problem again. I went to a transmission shop, they told me to inspect all my wires, and i said ok will do. I went home and did just that, and i came across a broken wire, the Shift Solenoid D have a broken wire and it was real close to the valve body, my guess is it was touching the valve body and creating some sort of signal/electric problem. So i bought a new solenoid A and replace it. So far my car runs fine and its been only 24 hour.

I agree with "Davelavallee"......."Old thread or not it just saved me a lot of money". Was driving my '03 when the trans acted like it went into neutral and then engaged again. MIL came on and I thought...."It's the kiss of death, $2000+ trans overhaul here it comes"! Bought a OBD2 scanner and it gave me a P0750 code which ended up being the shift solenoid "A". Went to Ford dealer and bought it (lucky they had it in stock). Dropped the pan, replaced the solenoid and buttoned it back up and it's been running great ever since. Best thing I every did was to buy that scanner....and like "Davelavallee" said it saved me big bucks!

shift solenoid "A"

I recently purchased a automatic 2002 ford focus and was told it had transmission issues. but when i drove the vehicle it would slip like it wasnt going into gear, but it would be random... First, second, third, and fourth. but i found out if i manually put the vehicle in first, or second it drove fine.. at that point i realized it cant be the transmission if it slips only in drive. so i shut off overdrive and it works fine now.
