Hi all,

I am finally ready to start my motor for the first time and wanted to check a couple things before starting

1) coolant lines, I want to make sure I have the oil cooler lines in right. Does the top or bottom hose from the oil cooler go to the heater core?

2) is my knock sensor in the right location? I know this is critical

Thanks

#1 shouldn't matter either way, just flows through, #2 looks proper.

Spin that thing over with plugs out/ign. coil unhooked to get oil pressure & flow to everywhere before first fire up. It can take much longer for that after a rebuild than an oil change.

Thanks for information. Should I have fuel pump fuse pulled too then? How many times do you turn it over? Thanks

Enough for oil pressure, maybe 10 revolutions.

Ok so I added motor oil and coolant and it's leaking out of the head gasket area it seems. Coolant out the front and oil out the back. Are you supposed to only put a small amount the first time? Also I turned it over and my oil pressure gauge still shows zero. Last, I put about four quarts in and it seems oil seems to just be resting above cams

You add 4 qtrs & check the oil & it doesn't show? Who put the motor together?
yes, even took out the oil pan bolt and nothing came out. it just appears to be slowly seeping through the head gasket area on both sides of the motor. is there something i i wrong (not refering to the rebuild, i didn't do that)? could something be plugging the oil to flow down to the pan? my coolant also did something similar where it was just pouring out the head gasket area out the front. this is so frustrating for amount of money and time spent

Yea, I'd think it would be. I'd be pulling it out as it'll need to come out anyhow. Call the guy/shop that did it & take back to them.

thanks for reply, ugh really sucks to hear, i've spent/wasted so many weekends getting the old engine out and now this new engine in, first time for a lot of things so takes me 2-3x longer than most of you guys. even drove from south florida to NC and back. i'm so frustrated.................

Why did you rebuild. Trying to understand your promblem. You said coolant is coming out of head gasket. Thats not good. So if anything was wrong before rebuild would help. The svt head is different from other focus. Maybe shop installed wrong gasket. Coolant Leaking from there would mean bad head gasket.

Sadly I don't know, I did a core exchange

has anyone ever heard of this? it seems so weird that the oil isn't going to oil pan at all. what would cause this? i can't even find anything online about this happening
I've heard of similar on other engines, where the head gasket is put on back wards and it's usually a coolant issue. It blocks the coolant passages. In case of the SVT it must be blocking both coolant and oil.
