How?, the sedan or hatch still require you to physcally open the trunk/hatch, even if there is a button now on the inside you still have to get out of the cap to open it...[dunno]
[scratch] Yeah, I don't get it either. How is it more convenient to push a button in the car, then get out and open the hatch/trunk than to push a button on the hatch/trunk itself? The only case where I can see that it would be more convenient is if you are sitting in the driver's seat and needing to open the trunk for someone standing outside the car.

This is something that they majorly screwed up on the 2012s. Glad they fixed it for the 2013s.
Maybe they screwed it up on the Sedan not to have the switch inside. But on the Hatch, if it's not going to open by itself, what's the point? You still have to open it by grabbing the area where the external switch is anyway.

I prefer to have the ONE button that turns on the fog lights. That way I don't even have to look at the switch to turn on my fogs. Which I do all the time. With two buttons, one for trunk and one for fogs, you'd have to look at the switch or you'd accidentally open the trunk occasionally and have to get out to close it. Which would I would find more frustrating in the long run.

Just my personal preference and I understand the other point of views.

The trunk open button will only work if the car is stopped and in park to avoid the trunk opening up while moving. I learned this when I dropped my sister off at the airport and I was stopped but still in drive and the button did not open the trunk.

Wait till your licence light burns out. You wouldn't believe it. After figuring out how to remove the light/trunk switch without tearing your car up then you have to pry it apart because its glued together. Inside I'd a printed circuit board with a tiny tiny flat thing that produces light. Not sure if its 12 volts or reduced to 5 but I can't figure how I will solder it if I knew where to get it. I got pulled over and was told to fix it. That was a week ago.

It uses an LED for the plate light. It would normally outlast the car. Maybe a solder joint or some other connection failed?

Repair would require replacing the entire assembly, which is why it's glued together. :)

The license plate light and third brake light is covered under warranty. Go to the dealer, they will replace it.

plus there's always the chance you could accidently open the trunk while driving. my ST has a teenty hatch button right next to a tiny fog light button. hate it. at least the fog lights now stay on even when the car is turned off so I leave them on all the time.

got a 2012 titanium as well and I don't have the trunk release button as you have it pictured here! odd!!!

I only have the fog lights switch on the left and that's it!
2012 don't have that button

Only trunk button we have is on the Keyfob and on the trunk itself.

Trunk lid switch fell out

Anyone else had the whole switch fall out of the trim panel? It just happened on my 2014 Sedan. One of the molded clips that holds it in fatigued. It should be a warranty item, but it still is a hassle to deal with. Of course, I can't really drive at night until it is fixed since I had to remove it or have it slap around the license plate and trunk lid with the wind. [:(!]

Take it to the dealer. The license plate light and high mounted stop light assemblies are covered under warranty. There is no "bulb" to replace. It's in the manual. Although, now that you tore it up, they probably wont cover it.

EDIT: Already commented on this necro thread.

No hatch/trunk interior button is just as stupid as not having lock/unlock buttons on the doors.....
