Throttle Body Questions - Angled Plate and Gap in bore.

Being new to Ford and Focus products, I hope these are not dumb questions. In my quest to solve my low idle and stalling problem, I decided to check to the Throttle Body assy. on my 2000 Zetec. The throttle plate seems to brass and is BENT up or angled on both sides. Is this normal?? Also, at rest, there is at least a 1 to 2 mm GAP between the plate and the bore on one edge as if TB was warped. Is this possibly normal?? I have never seen a throttle plate which did not fully seat in the bore before. Any thoughts?? Thanks, Focus Rookie

the OEM TB butterfly is bent like you describe. Why?? i don't know, it can actually hurt airflow. but anyways. if there is a gap in the TB buterfly, i believe that is normal. As for the bad idle and low idle problem ur having, its not cause the butterfly is open a bit. if anything, that would cause the RPM to climb, not go lower. If the gap is too small, then yes, it may, but i doubt it. if that was completely closed off, then you would have no airflow into ur engine at idle.

There should be an idle air control valve...right? Or do Focus' not have them like most other fuel injected vehicles?

Also check the air filter, spark plugs, etc.
