Show her how nice it looks on yours

Tbh I could've done more research.in the beginning. I nought the $300 steeda Cai and called it a day. I do feel quite good performance. But I wouldn't know compared to a $50 filter. Quality wise I'd say it's good if you're ceiling of spending is ok. You are basically paying additionally for: better shaped velocity stack and heat shield. I think.

Which ones you mentioned? What are you running with now then?

I ran both of the ones I mentioned. The drop in just left me wanting more. I'm very happy with my intake now.

So what are you running now?? I can go either way but I know I will want more if I just get a filter so I am just looking for a good Recommendation For a cai

I'm running the typhoon now.
This would be my choice, the shield design directs more air and colder air towards the
filter and seals good against the hood...and replaces restrictive stock throttlebody
elbow.....chalupa is there 2 designs?, i have seen 2 versions.

The Typhoon still barely gives any gains over the snorkel delete. The throttle body can have only so much air forced through it no matter how big the filter or elbow is. Only at WOT throttle is where you will see a small diff otherwise the throttle plate is the restriction.

Of course, since it just has to please the owner.

Just too poor of a bang for the buck mod for me and nobody sees under my hood except for oil changes.
K&N sells a sweet looking one for my 4Runner but a hole in the stock airbox (with deckplate mod so I can close it back up for water crossings) delivers the same 9whp. My brain just can't justify the cost diff.
Even on my 1st gen turbo Eclipse my intake was the canister type so I cut the can part away leaving the retainer ring to hold a K&N filter.

Haven't even spent $200 on intakes for 3 cars (The Subi is still stock) which would've been over $900 with aftermarket choices.

I just cut the drivers' side, flip-flap thing. It looked to be around a 2" x 6" piece. It looks like it may help in motion, but may hinder at a stand still. Almost like heat from the radiator could seep in when stopped.

I enjoy my typhoon. To each his own.

There is a K&N lid replacement and filter combo besides the typhoon.

I have one of these intake kits, mainly because I found a really good deal on it a few years ago. If it's something you are considering, I would recommend just buying the filter that is in the kit. I doubt that the airbox lid improves performance. I don't recommend the filter with the cap unless you want more sound from the intake, because with the cap on, it is basically the same as the cheaper E-2993.

Did it today. Took some advice, didn't cut flaps, didn't remove the large rectangular shroud for the rad either.

What I've noticed: could be placebo effect but definitely helps. HOWEVER, as Duane pointed out (you're 100% correct btw), my Steeda intake draws air from one of the stock intake tube as well as air behind headlights. After I've monitored my temp and noticed temp defintiely drops quicker and lower but at the same time raises quicker too when idling in city. The contrast wasn't as big and wasn't as fast.
