If it were me, if you can get a good 6-1/2 to fit in your stock panels ide do it.

I wasnt sure if they would fit without modification to the panels so i just went with 6X8 drivers.

I think ill order some of those adaptor rings and look into some better 6-1/2 drivers
When I took off the door panel the other day to make sure of the speaker size, it looked to be a lot smaller than a 6x8. Looked more like a 5x7...Do you know if the 08-11 models use the same size speaker? The manual and stuff says 6x8 but it just looks smaller to me

Well a good way to find out is to messure the speaker you took out. If you make yourself a base plate you should have no issue fitting a 6.75 speaker in it if you bottom mount it.

measure it and 5x7 6x8s almost alllllllways fit the same openings but like he said above me measure it make sure... i know uprgrading to component is always worth it because the the drivers vibrations dont interfer with the tweeters vibration like in coaxial

Well what ever it is, the speakers i put in says 5X7/6X8 so what ever the focus is.

Like i said if some one on here got a 6-1/2 to fit ill look into it.

There has not been a FOrd product I have not put 6x9 in a 6X8 hole yet. Rangers ore the best for this. A pair of 6x9 and a pair of 10's in a standard cap Ranger with about 450rms is PLENTY loud enough. Building you own plates is the way to go, I still have the ones I ran Infinity 1CS system on. 4" mid bass and a Emit-K ribbon on and they were great.

I have put 6.5s in the rear door pannels but took them out because they blew on me so it is possible depth wise int he back pannels with some dremeling but im not so sure about the front

they will fit, you just need the adapter and maybe a spacer to move the speaker just a little further away from the window for when it down. the guy at the audio shop i go to had a 2000 focus zx3 and he put 6 1/2s in all 4. just used an adapter plate. he traded it though so no picture to take

Nice after I put these 6.5s in im looking to get some 8in mid bass drivers... prolly go to the junkyard to get spair door pannels before I start all the cutting [^]

check the depth still but besides that the fitment shouldnt be an issue, 8s put in like that might not sound the best. could create a lot of rattle. i would do some sort of fiberglass box for it.

Trust me tons of sound deadening would be added and I wouldnt have the 8's thumping prolly run an 8ohm and just use them to fill in the missing midbass

What 6.5's are you guys running?

I like 6.5s alot, both my home theater speakers are running 6.5s the set in my room has 2 each in their own seperated/ported chamber. The better set i have down stairs have 3 1 in a seperate chamber with the tweeter and then the other 2 in their own chamber.

6.5 IMO have really good midrange which i like.

Its better to ge 6.5 speakers. You can get a very good pair of those for the price of barely decent 5x7 or 6x8 speakers. If you have a sub(and you should) you wont need the extra cone area from 6x8 speakers. 6.5 with half decent sound deadening with even a good 8" sub will sound great.
