I got a bunch of mods but when I do downhill in sportmode, often revs stay in 4-5K range and wont drop, very annoying.. does that happen to you at all
Yes, I experience the same thing but where I live its pretty flat so I don't encounter steep grades often.

Usually once I'm on the highway and traffic is flowing well I switch from Sport to D

Did the Ford Tech tell you if you take the Batt loose it also resets the crank counter
I'll respond to them and ask for clarification. I am 100% on board with facts and I have tried to make it clear that I don't claim to know everything.
He claims it is not reset when the battery is disconnected: https://old.reddit.com/r/FordFocus/...ocus/comments/9vc7gu/all_things_dct_what_it_is_why_its_still_broken_in/e9ko58s/

Is it possible y'all are talking about different things?

Bingo. I have a 3.5 ecoboost f150 and tons of those have been tuned. And they have a tendency to send pistons through the block if it’s turned up too much.

I don’t know of a single voided warranty unless the customer admits to having it tuned.

Battery count resets that crank counter. And a tune does as well.

The only way to know if it’s been tuned is for an engineer to take the ecm and compare the code to oem code.

Hello guys, just created an account because a quick google search led me to this site.

I never searched the car before buying it, I guess lesson learned [facepalm]. Anyway, I just bought a 2012 Ford Focus SEL that has 84K miles on it. It is a very fun car to drive! I am coming from an old 2000 Buick Regal.

Looked through the vehicles Carfax and everything looked good. No recalls or anything so I thought I found a great car. I did notice the transmission had work done in 2014 and all the dealer said was there was an issue with the transmission when the cars came out but it is fixed now.

When I test drove the vehicle, I did not feel any shuddering at all. I noticed the battery power had been pulled since the clocks date and time were wrong.

Now that I have had the vehicle for a few days, I definitely notice it. It is really noticeable when the vehicle gets up to temperature. But that takes awhile since the temperatures are in the single digits this week.

I have a windshield chip that needs fixed that the dealer agreed to fix with the sale and I was going to bring up the shuddering.

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I see there was an extended warranty but I am not sure if I would still be within the 7 year, 100K mile range for the Ford 14M1 issue.

I also have a 3 month / 3000 mile warranty since the dealer Certified the vehicle. The transmission is included with their warranty, not sure what about the transmission exactly.

I hope people are still active in this thread.

Thanks.

Hi all, sure you old timers remember me,I am the one you all said ,ford would never buy my defective focus back, anyway they did, after 4years of paperwork, and a arbertration hearing, ford was ORDERED,to pay me sticker price. I now have a new Fusion, and a thank you, ford lied right to the end,and even tried to hide a invoice, but the arbitrator, found in my favor.for all of you,you can do the same,You must be the original owner, you must have less than 60k miles, and have had 4 clutch-hardware replacements, and problem still is there. I am so glad I did not let ford get away with knowingly, selling me a defective car,,good luck all. If you want to know where to apply send me a private message,,lv my Fuzion..Steve

sorry you have bought into these problems. But I don't think you, me or anyone else is supposed to google search everything we buy to find out if problems are being handled so egregiously. We have a right to expect good support ad service from automobile makers.

I considered a Fusion Titanium but I guess I just really don’t need a car that large. I do love how my ‘13 Focus Hatch looks but it’s a terrible driving car. I got a reminder of that yesterday when I was stuck in bumper to bumper LA freeway traffic & the DCT was shuddering all of the place. I was so annoyed I was ready to scream & if I was convinced that the 2017-2018s were improved I’d probably buy one, although I really hate wasting money on cars. The long-term reliability on my ‘13 very much concerns me, especially since it’s out-of-warranty. Congrats on winning your case.

Thanks, the Fusion is really not that much larger. Takes a little more bass, but you get the ride in return. The focus is ,or I will say was,I had a 2001 black wagon for 17 years,Lv it it had the wet clutch and was a better car than my 14 se.but on the hiway, the Fusion really shines. Back to the law suit, its to bad the judge let ford put these criteria, for buy back. I think anyone that has a power shift and its shaking, ford should buy it back,if you buy a vacumecleaner from Wal-Mart,and it shakes, they will let you bring it back, why are cars any different??

They really aren't, Walmart has gone through its' share of times when it refused to take back defective things as well. I myself have had to at least line up the lawyer to make them 'see the light' twice, and once on a nationally known restaurant chain as well. Got what I wanted out of it all three times but it costs you time to do it.

That type of thing is already getting worse in a world where facts are no longer facts or 'alternative' facts Trump (let's see how many get p-ssed off THIS time) them to make reality worthless.

Be glad you don't drive a Nissan CVT, those are going to be the bane of Nissan. At least the DCT stayed together to still run bad.

You have a right to expect whatever you want, but that does not mean you will get it.

Anyone expecting perfection from any human activity, especially one as complex as designing, manufacturing, selling, and servicing a modern car, is bound to be disappointed. No one else will look out for your own interests as well as you could with a little effort. Caveat emptor.

Wanted to add ,on the Fusion,it has the auto restart, stop. In heavy traffic I do see it will save gass, but even the slight restart does bother me, the good is there is a off switch. I have got in the habit of turning it off,I can not feel this car shift, just see the tac jump. I do feel sorry for those who bought a focus, and then found the problem. If ford really wants to regain customers. They should just recall all.get the power shift off the road. Steve

That would pretty much result in bankruptcy. Great way to get them back. You'd be happy of course.

What happens when the 'Rule of McDonalds' strikes, when we screw up we then go all in on the screw up. It's hit the brick wall at 800 mph time. Ford could not bring itself to admit their engineers are idiots. Same with Nissan. Same with other car makers as well, almost every one has put out an absolute defective product in one way or the other now in the last few years and they refuse to admit it, pushing them harder and harder. How dare you imply our product is defective?

Amen post #853. It's been so long since I had something go wrong that I MYSELF fixed I laugh when I hear about others having repairs go bad, under my breath of course. Those delicate 'I gotta have my safe space' brains simply can't take it.

So much difference in the real and imagined world............

I’ll be honest, when I bought my ‘13 Focus, I had known about the issues on the 2012s but figured it was the ‘first year gremlins’ & that the 2013s were fine. Boy was I wrong, it’s an annoying car to drive. I often wonder if the 2017-18s are better, but a Ford salesmen told me last year to avoid 2012-2016s.

As far as that auto start/stop fuel button goes, the jury is still out on how many years those Starters will last before they need to be replaced.

So I’d love to get everyone’s opinions on this:

I took my ‘13 Focus Hatch into the Ford Dealer today for an oil change & for the fuel tank recall. So while I was dropping it off I mentioned to the service guy that the car continues to shudder on acceleration & could the transmission tech please take a look. So they did & heres what I’ve been told:

Tech comments: Verified transmission shutter when driving & recommend clutch replacement to correct the issue CDR at this time.

They will not cover this under any powertrain warranty & told me it would cost me $2,200 out-of-pocket & take 1-3 days to complete.

My ‘13 has 38,300 miles & the powertrain warranty did expire in Nov. ‘18. I guess I’m out of luck because there’s ZERO chance I’ll pay $2200 for a 6yo car w/ only 38k miles.

I guess the shudder will only get worse over time, so I guess I should possibly consider a Focus ST or Edge etc. Too bad because it sure is a sporty looking car.
