Even the dealership is clueless on what is wrong with my car. It doesn't happen all of the time. But, sometimes I will get in my car, turn the air on, have it on the dash vents only, and it acts like the vents are trapped and it will only blow the air on the floor (when it is on dash only). I can usually get it to work right if I change modes a few times (defrost, dash & floor, back to dash, etc.). Sometimes I have to do this several times to get it to go back. It acts as if there is a flap that isn't switching in the back.

It doesn't always do this. It seems like it does it maybe every fews weeks. Then, of course by the time I get it in the dealership it stopps doing it, works, fine, and then I'm the crazy lady lol.

They keep telling me other cars do this and I find that unacceptable. When i have it on the dash, it should blow out the dash like it normally does evey time.

Thoughts???

I'll bring this to the attention of our Ford Customer Service rep. Unfortunately, you have to be able to replicate the problem in order for it to be diagnosed. It's either that or you end up being one of those people who takes their car in then the mechanic does nothing to it, and sends it back out "fixed". Don't feel bad, I was one of those one time. My slave cylinder stuck, so the car wouldn't do, I called Ford, had it towed, they kept it for 3 days, and then told me nothing was wrong with it.

Yes, that is exactly what happens. Once, I was in the neighborhood and drove to the dealership while it was happing. The service advisor (not my "assigned" service advisor) said there was something wrong. He gave me the card of my regular advisor and told me to call back. Of course, by the time I was able to do that and bring my car back in, it stopped doing it and I looked like the crazy lady lol.

This sounds crazy, but it seems like it does it when my car has been sitting in the heat for awhile. Where I live it can get up to 100degrees. Which of course is when I want to use it the most. Not sure if the sitting in the heat part is coincidence or if it is what's causing the issue.

Hi LisaDaisy36,

I want to escalate your concern to your regional Customer Service Manager. They'll reach out to your dealer and ensure that things get resolved. Send me a PM with your VIN, estimated mileage, preferred servicing dealer, and a daytime phone number. I'll get the ball rolling. [8D]

Thanks for getting me involved, whynotthinkwhynot. It's hard keeping an eye on all these threads; I appreciate the assist![headbang]

Hey there Ricwoodard,

Let's get this figured out. I recommend making an appointment with your preferred Ford Dealer here. Additionally, send a PM my way that includes your full name, phone number, VIN, mileage, dealer, and appt. date/time.

I'll look into next best steps.

Grounding issue

My issue (Nav fault, interior lighting, and fan blower), were all the result of a grounding issue (lack of ground) along the passenger side door frame. Dealership fixed it under warranty. I don't have the exact location of the problem, but they said the paint needed to be removed some more at the ground point.

I had this exact situation multiple times on my trip to Colorado and Utah. Was able to have a tech look at it in Moab UT and he re-positioned, or reconnected the fan connector switch (I believe) under the passenger side dash. It did temporarily resolve the issue, however, it didn't last.

It seems like the times it happens, that a period of time with the fan off, say 15 minutes seems to solve the issue. I was thinking it was a thermal problem, but loss of ground makes much more sense.

I think we might be taking about different problems. Mine is more like I turn the A/C on and it's blowing out the defrost but set on head position. I normally just turn the dial to far right then turn it to each setting until I get back to the head setting and it's good.

I'm thinking it's a dead spot in the rheostat in the dial or the blend door motor...leaning toward the rheostat.

I have the same issue with my 2015. Dash vents blow weak if on with other vent settings. If I turn all off and then dash only then floor the dash vents blow more air.
Currently I'm having an issue with my fan switch not always working in position 3. I have to switch it back and forth to get it to turn on.

Maybe send a PM to LisaDaisy36... hopefully it will trigger an email alert to her and she will answer back... otherwise that user haven't signed in for years on the forum!
