I was lucky enough to be able to make that choice with my last two vehicles. I'm actually really happy my Jetta was a lemon, because we traded it in on this Focus. The Focus may not be as.. well, fancy, as the Jetta was (regardless of trim level, the Focus just feels cheap), but it sure is a lot more reliable and fun to drive. The community seems to be a lot friendlier too :p

I can confirm that thought. VW community members are all TDI maniacs or will say their car is the best no matter what. Yes the Focus feels cheaper against them, but no car is perfect and we all have our priorities![driving]

EDIT: I don't have anything against VW owners, they are great cars too, it's just they are a bit... narcissist.

True, but we aim to make the perfect car no matter what car we start with. [wiggle]
Let's not forget everyone has their own definition of perfect! [twothumbs]

Talking of "aiming to make the perfect car", is a sway bar (Steeda) a nice starting point? I'll need some projects to keep me occupied during my college days!

Well I have the basic S sedan, so I suppose I don't
Well in that case steeda is the way to go on that because they're the only ones who make a kit to compensate for the lack of stock mounts (ridiculous that they didn't just use the same subframe for every trim model). It'll really tighten up your body roll in the turns, too. If you do that though have the brackets welded on. Trust me, it'll save you a few headaches.

What kind of headaches the brackets got you? [wrenchin]

It is indeed ridiculous that the used different sub-frames depending of the trim, but that is american engineering!

Well for starters, no matter how tightly you wrench them down they always seem to clunk when you take a turn or go over bumps. If you happen to take the bar off to lube the bushings, they might fall off lol. But mostly because the stock mounts are welded onto the sub-frame, so these probably should be too? [hihi]

It does make sense! I'll make sure to get them soldered on.

Focus On Me, I was actually thinking about doing a conversion. I don't have a money tree but I do have some good friends who own/work at a mechanic and body shop who could help me with doing all of this. I was thinking of talking to them soon and just getting a rough estimate together so I could see where i'm looking at price wise!

Lowered on Eibach sportlines. 20% tint on the front and 15% everywhere else. Vinyl wrapped the ugly plastic window pillars and got some yellow lamin-x for the fog lights. Also felt the need to show off her big booty [twothumbs]
How's the ride with the Eibach springs?

Wash, vacuum, oil & filter change, new air cleaner, new tires, alignment, greased everything I could under the front end. Here she sits at 112,500 miles.

The eibachs are soft. It's a bitter sweet for me. Since I drive so much if it were stiffer I think it would beat my kidneys out however over some interstate bumps it really bottoms out and hits hard.

I like the eibachs a lot but where I do most of my driving, the roads have been all repaved for the most part. When I do interstate driving though, KillerKlown is right, they hit hard! Just gotta be careful and avoid the potholes and go as slow as you can over the bumps but its usually easier said than done.

I think I'll keep my stock suspension and add a Steeda Sway Bar...

Here's the typical road in Quebec City : [rant]

Don't think I make it worse than it is, most companies won't offer a warranty on suspension as they get damaged a lot faster! [gunfire]

But hey, at least the stock suspension is great and I like the height of the ride with them, a bit too much sway but that's another story!
