I have about 3700 miles on mine and I experienced one hard shift. Not really sure what it was, could have been a slip, not sure. Has not happened again and it's been about 1500 miles since that happened.
I personally like that it mimics a standard, as I came from a standard to this one.
I someone's use the paddle shifters for a little fun too.

2016 SE Hatchback. Mileage: 2,240

I could hear a clunking sound coming from the front passenger side of the car the first week I brought it. It could be best heard at around 10 mph (without hitting any bumps) before road noise would drown it out. When I took the car to the dealership the Ford tech heard it within 50 yards of leaving the service bay.

They started by replacing individual parts in the front right strut and couldn’t get the clunking fixed, so they just replaced the whole strut assembly but it still made the clunking sound.

Then they replaced the top engine support and that fixed it.

Finally rolled the 1000 mile mark in my 16 2.5 months in. It's used about 8 oz of oil that's it -- chalking that up to the engine and seals getting all primed. Still smells new.

Checking back in, currently at 16,000. Still shifting perfectly and running like day 1. I use Mobil1 5w-20 full synthetic for my oil changes. A little bit of oil lost/burned off is completely normal for internal combustion engines as per the design by the way!

I recently got a '15 SE hatch with the regular 2.0l/DCT in it. It was a lease trade in with 30k on it, but I got a major discount for those extra miles :)

Anyway 1st gear studders like hell most of the time. After that it shifts better than most normal automatics that I've driven. If I work the gas pedal just right I can usually make 1st gear shift properly, but in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic sometimes you can't and it acts up.

It feels like either the computer is trying to go from full clutch to half clutch/no clutch 3-4 times before it actually shifts to 2nd. It that really what causes the shudder? It also feels like a slipping clutch, but I would think 2nd would do it too when I really got on the gas if that were the case.

Also I think my '15 was built in February, would it have the latest clutch release (F?), and the latest software? Would it be worth taking it in to Ford? This is honestly my first car that had any factory warranty on it and I've always avoided dealerships like the plague.

thanks!

You can try to do some 'clutch-scrubbing' , find an empty road, and go WOT to 45-55mph and slow to a stop, do it about 5-6 times and see where that gets you
Itll fix his issue for sure. Usually keeps it smooth for a good time.

Ford if you want to keep the dual clutch. Atleast give us a wet dual clutch transmission and better programming.

Dont know if anyone has posted this yet but they are doing a redesign for the 17's for the automatics. My wife works at a dealership and they have had some issues with the 16's but it is all luck it seems to which have the issues and which dont

So the 2017's will no longer use the DCT?

so glad I love manual transmissions and have hated automatics since I was a kid. These new cvt's , dct's are LOL.

Manual is the only way to go, cheaper to fix, less maintenance. More fun, more control. I will continue to only buy manual transmission cars until they no longer make them. At that point I will no longer buy new cars, and still stick with old manuals.

p.s. shout out to my family for teaching me how to drive a manual before I was 7 y/o too. Started on manual 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers, and dirt bikes. Moved to cars about 10 y/o on our property.

Now at the age of 32 I am so, SO , happy I am not forced to buy these new POS auto's.

agree about sticks, been driving them since 1962 3 speeds up to 13 speed road rangers and 15 speed twin sticks in macks . talk about driving a crazy truck with that one
but the sad side is to many people not wanting them plus epa rules are making sticks a item not worth manufactures keeping them

ps on edit
I drove a 2016 it felt just like my 13. shudder the dealer did say they had heard about some kind of change in the trans for 17 but felt it still would be a dct maybe it will be a wet clutch unit and not a dry

Explaining why the knob/lever on the stick does something different between axle shift & trans range types is hard enough, explaining the side button on a 13 or higher adds too much for most.

Haven't had the fun of actually using a twin stick of that type, only the Mitsubishi version in a Colt/Champ (chuckle).

Any kind of manual is fun to me, even the automated clutch types.

RR 9,10 or 13 speeds are easy, 9 and 10 just pull up the button and shift back into first from 5, 13 spd- 5 in low pull up the button back into first for 6th, flip the splitter button for 7, start shifting into the 2nd spot while returning the splitter button, repeat skip what you don't need.
twin sticks from the early days pre road rangers both hands off the steering wheel fast shift the splitter lever re-grab the wheel. repeat, some of the old 231 hp turbo macks had 5 speeds we didn't dare miss a shift or you were better off stopping and restarting

I have a 2016 Ford focus S with a 6 speed automatic powershift and I love it. I've never felt the shudder, but then again I only have 3,000 miles on the car. I think people with 2016 haven't driven it enough to know it will affect them. Also, I drive on stop and go traffic all the time and don't feel the shudder if that helps you out.

9600 miles on my '14 HB and not one single issue with it... love it.

In all fairness, I believe overall Ford has fixed the eariler problems with the DCT6 trans. There might be a few issues out there but that is true with any model car. It's hit or miss on the eariler production models.
