Right here is a little app you can download and extract to a usb drive:

http://outofmytouch.com/reboot.html

Basically, you pop the drive containing the app into a usb port, let it install (only takes a few seconds), and the next time you shut the car down the system will reboot (it will only reboot, not reset, so you won't lose any of your saved things like radio presets of saved nav destinations).

It is a very handy thing to have. I would recommend keeping a copy on a drive in your car permanently. I do. It is really helpful to have on hand.

Ford is definetly associating MFT with Microsoft. I sure hope that means for this new update Microsoft really put soem effort into controlling BSquare's beta testing process. (Granted this is a press release for the Chinese version...)

Partnering with Microsoft
For almost seven years, Ford has been working with Microsoft in developing an integrated communications and entertainment system that ensures customers remain connected to their digital lifestyles.

Critical to the success of SYNC with MyFord Touch has been Microsoft’s Windows Embedded Automotive, a powerful software platform that provides Ford with the capability to develop a full portfolio of connectivity options, along with features that provide customers with an innovative and engaging experience.
“We are very proud of our partnership with Ford on SYNC. Together, we work to provide an intelligent vehicle solution that works with any device and connects the driver to their digital world. Most importantly, SYNC is upgradeable, allowing for new experiences and technologies to be added to their existing system,” said Steven Bridgeland, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Windows Embedded Automotive.

So after owning the Dart for awhile, one thing that the MFT had me spoiled was the constant updates I had to get. I mean really 3 months into ownership and I have update / dealership visit withdrawals.

Like Dodge never updates their uConnect system. My wife is still running damn OEM stock firmware from Dec 2011 in her Journey >.< Frigging POS wish it would crash or glitch sometimes so I can take it into service.

Well anyways, after going through update withdrawals I decided to do a little tinkering myself on my Dart. While it is not the system firmware, it is still something...

To all the haters that made fun of the uConnect a year ago because it used Garmin as its Nav. How's that MFT Nav treating you? Booyah!

You haven't truly experienced an MFT update until you've done it yourself. Nothing beats sitting in your car for an hour with the engine running while it updates...one package at a time...from dozens of packages. And then there's the setup stage where you have to program your stations and preferences again.

MFT is truly a cutting edge product!

I did mine on my 50 min drive to work...:)

Talked to my Ford rep. Need performance update to be released around Sept 2.
Same rep that told me about v3.5.1, which i posted here, and that date was right. Not much said about what it will FIX, just that it addresses speed and reliability. Specifically no word about my big problem: music continuing to play while on the phone.

That's one way of doing it.

In my case, the car was in the garage (with the engine off) and I was watching TV.

The ol' battery charger does come in handy sometimes (although I cannot recommend that anyone else tries this).

All the self installs have gone super smooth for me. Also, I didn't have to reset my radio stations with this last go around. I can't remember about the previous ones.

Aside from that, honestly, I don't mind the updates, provided they add functionality... but unfortunately it seems all they've done to this point is take some away, break it, and try and fix it. [:(!] I will say this latest iteration works perfectly for me. Haven't had any of the issues others are noting so far.

Phone messages voice commands

Has anyone had the problem where you can access text messages through the touchscreen, but not through voice commands? When I say "phone messages" it says, "sorry your device is not supported" or something like that.

I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting my phone with no luck. I've got an HTC one X.
Edit: Nevermind, looks like you have to say "listen to message #"

I "upgraded" to v3.5.1 yesterday. Made certain I had a good book to read.
Today I noticed that the clock was off by an hour. Also discovered the date was off by three days. Messed with it for a hour or so... telling myself I was smarter than the system was, but could never get the time change to stick and couldn't change the date. Finally opened a support.ford.com chat session and explained the date/time problem. Was told "The date and time are a known concern and should be addressed wuth the next update. The update should be released so but no date has been provided." (Cut-n-pasted from the chat session.)

Had a brand new one with Nav this morning. I was heading due north on an expressway that I take to work every day. My vehicle indicator was behaving fine and pointing straight ahead (12 o'clock) but the map screen would not orient properly. It was at an angle from the true direction. In other words, the north-south expressway I was on should have been directly aligned with my directional arrow like it typically is however this morning it not do that and even though the road should have been oriented in the 12 o'clock/6 o'clock alignment it was running at about 2 o'clock/8 o'clock. This resulted in the appearance of directional arrow travelling at an angle along the expressway as it tried to stay locked on to the road. Didn't have the No GPS indicator during this either.

I have grown quite accustom to looking at the No GPS indicator and I have grown quite accustom to my Nav system showing me travelling through neighborhoods, woods, bodies of water, etc. but this one was a first for me. Like usual with the system, just guess I'll have to wait and see what it does when I head out from work. See if it corrected itself.

Are you sure that north/south road runs true north/south? Could you have had "north up" versus "heading up" selected?
