so there is no way for me to put a cat on my focus if i install OBX headers?
Are there any headers or manifolds that can be purchased aftermarket for the PZEV 2.3 without failing emissions?
My two bits on the above as they are related. What is legal vs. what will 'pass' cannot be answered directly as it is based primarily on your location. Example: I live in Saint Louis. I can 'pass' with a header IF > I have a cat (following the header), AND > I have all the factory o2 sensors in place and working (No cheaters). I got this info by simply asking my Ford dealers emissions manager who does my inspections (hint: I inquired there as there the toughest inspection station in my area). lets_FOCUS > your answer is probably yes, but you would have to have modifications (a port) added for the air pump.
but the real question for both is this. What do you expect to gain? I gave up on a header as there is no performance gain to be expected if you have a cat following a header. The cat is the primary restriction. This has been confirmed by both Tom and Randy. [bigcry]

got a quick question... im getting a used F2 header for my 2.0 pzev... i figured i should buy a new header gasket to go with it... but do i get the pzev, or non pzev gasket? assuming after the header is installed the engine will no longer be a ''pzev''... thanks...[poke]

These are some great threads! I would like to have a header, seems like it is not worth the little HP you get,& emissions hassel. And the noise factor too. Its a 4 cylinder there is no getting around the noise.

^^a header will get u good gains especially if u get a tune afterwards..ur lookin at @ least 10-12whp after the tune..very noticeable in a 4cyl I think. Mine is coming very soon!

my header is coming tmrw but what kills me is that i'm not gonna do the install for another 2 weeks! i'll be getting my stealth exhaust then so i wanna do both at once, and a header w/ stock exhaust is no bueno anyways so it'll be worth the wait. and i have my xcal 2 ready to go too! man i love christmas!

congrats man... i love my header....i know youll love yours...[headbang]

anyone know if two resonators is too much or will cause damage..? i got my F2 header installed with a huge 18x6'' magnaflow resonator, its still semi loud and i want that baby to be much stealthier....
I'd go for the F/W steath system to begin with. You used two reonators & no muffler at all. I'd be putting a muffler on, where the stock one goes w/ what you have now, just to see if it quieted it down some. Are you using a tune or a MIL elimanator? [cheers]

Are the "flex pipes" that everyone is talking about the 2 little mesh looking things that come with the OBX header?

What are they for? fitment or can they be discarded?

The one i see on e-bay has 2 that look like they bolt together and im wondering why its in 3 pieces?

If i took the header to a muffler shop could they just hook one pipe to the end of the header then weld everything on after that?

Will muffler shops put on headers?

You need the flex pipe, for the movement the motor has being sideways. All FWD cars have to use some sort of flex for the exhaust, even w/ vf engineering mounts or similair mounts. As far as muffler shops, could put a header on, they would want some kind of conver added to. Legalley I don't think they can. Any how you would be missing out of all the fun you would have, adding a new mod, to your car, don't you think! [wrenchin]

can anyone point me to the sensor cheat how to i cant seem to find it im going to order me a obx header

you dont need a tune to run a header right?
tunes just preferred for more power?

well the one guy said 6-8 whp then another said 14whp with a tune?

im happy with 6-8 hp and 14 later on when i get around to a tune if thats the case :)

Did you happen to inquire as to where in the RPM range you could expect to see these gains? Still, I am skeptical. I think your going to see 3-4HP, 6-8 with a tune. For the money, A tune is going to net you far more usable power than a header alone. You already have quite a few mods. If you have an auto, then there are even more gains to be had with a good tune. Not hating on getting a header, but there one of the items you would normally get last, not first. [wiggle]

P.S. I am one of those 'nitpickers' that sit down and calculate how much I am going to spend for how much I am going to gain. You might not roll like that. If so just ignore me and enjoy your header!

no worries i dont think ur a ass or anything where all here to learn right and share info :)
could running a header on a factory motor not tunned cause any kinda damage?
i want the header for the extra sound now and a tune later on im quite happy right now with the cars performance
