white spots on seats?

I seem to remember some sort of comment in a thread a year or so ago regarding "white spots" appearing on the fabric area of the SVT seats (no s******ing). I have experienced this phenomenon and wonder if my recollection is correct and if others have noticed it too. Anyone have a guess as to the cause or treatment to remove?

I have one on my driver's seat, but I assumed it was just a little spot of something that got spilled by the previous owner. BTW, spots on your seat do not make for a faster car - i.e. this probably should have been posted in the Auto Detailing forum. I realize it was SVT-specific but certain mods get annoyed when non-performance related stuff gets posted in the SVT Performance forum. [thumb]

I made on of the mysterious white spots in my passenger seat by kneeling on it while installing my Steeda STS. I think it has something to do with the fabric being strestched and showing thru the 'background' color from underneath... but that's just a guess. Some people say they go away if you use one of those little steam rug cleaners.

I got some on my back seat. I thought it was whip cream or something because I picked up 3 girls from a bachelorette party.

AM I the only one that sees a nasty area for comments here?...................[:D] [:)~]

I called SVT about it today because I got another big spot on my seat yesterday. I put my hand on the driver's seat to reach over to the glove box, and when I lifted my hand there was a huge white spot, like someone poured bleach on the seat. It is definitely from stretching the fabric.

So... I called SVT about it, and the guy I spoke to had never heard anything about it. He put me on hold and asked a few others about it. Here's the story: it is from stretching the fabric; what happens is a powdery substance from the foam underneath comes out onto the fabric. I was told that a strong upholstery cleaner should clean the powder off. I will try to clean mine this weekend, and then let folks know how it worked.
