The size for the speakers are 6x8. Whenever in doubt just do a search on FF.com and see if theres any other similar topics already started.

 

Yes, they are 6x8. Almost all 6x8 and 5x7 speakers have multiple mounting screw holes that make them "universal." However, due to mounting depths and tweeter heights, not all 6x8 speakers fit. I would start by looking at Crutchfield.com, and use their "Outfit my Car" tool. It will tell you what speakers (that they sell) fit there. From there, you can search around on other sites for the same speakers, or you can find a set of speakers you like and ask around here if anyone else has used them, and if they fit. Are you looking at anything in particular right now?

 

Crutchfield was the website saying 6x8 wouldn't fit. I bought a set of 6x8s that say specially fit for Ford and Mazda vehicles, so the depth should be good right?

 

I'm on Crutchfield almost daily, they don't say that 6x8's don't fit. It's likely that the particular pair of speakers you're looking at don't fit because of mounting depth or tweeter height.

 

One of the first things I did when I got my new Focus was change out the front door speakers. I went w/Boston Acoustics SX-85's. What GREAT sounding spks. Musical. I most highly recommend them. The stock HU has no problem driving them. I had them profesionally installed for about $170. Best $ I have every spent on a set of spks.

 

I just ordered two 5 x 7 from crutchfield! Now I read this lol oh no! My manual says 6 x 8 but I went with what crutchfield said!
