wow, that really is odd...y no tach on a 5 speed? glad you guys found some though!! i try to shift around 2200, as most of my commute is city driving. try to keep my mileage up

^^that's about what I do. most of the speeds in this town rarely go above 35 so I try to shift at 2000. On the highway I'll bring it up to 3000-3300 depending on what my top speed will be (in MT its 70-75). Of course if I'm on the back roads, and having a little fun, I'll push it up over 5000.

well i am trying to see what diff i get from doing it that way now, and then later with my exhaust on, see if anything changes

i shift depending on need...

do i need to turn onto a busy highway before i get stuck at an intersection for 10 minutes? 4000..

or am i just cruising along the street on my way to 7-11... 2500....

but normally between 2500-3000... i'm chillin.

normally just cruising around (regular driving) 3000-3999
alot of slow traffic, trying to get around them i up it to 4000-4999
racing i ALWAYS shift from 5000-5999
sometimes though i have caught myself accidently hitting the rev limit for a second when i burn out [smackbum]

[hah] [hatchet]

u guys ever see that the shift light comes on at about 2k? the manual says that is how u will get the best mileage.

have you ever tried shifting that low though? the engine bogs a lot, weird they want us to shift there.

i really have no idea i think its for fuel economy, like i heard ford put those in so when u see that light and shift when it lights up that will get you the best mileage. i unno though lol

yeah, i know that...it says that right in the manual. i just dont get why it needs to be bogged in order to get the good mileage.
