Anybody have them? Has anybody had them for many miles?

They are just so cheap--I know you usually get what you pay for, but I've heard great things about them...then I've also heard not-so-great things, so what's the scoop???

Also do you think their all-seasons grip really well in the snow, if you have them?...

I'm on my 2nd set of Kumho SPT's high performance/summer, and it's a great tire. My car is my DD and I also do some autox. They work well in both situations. I got 26k out of the first set. Good buy IMO...

Hi,

I had a set of Khumo touring 732's on my 89 Buick LeSabre T Type. They road/handled/wore very well. In fact, when i sold the car, they had been on for about a year and a half. The new owner thought I had put new tires on before selling it.

I highly recommend them.

I had a set of 185/70R14 Kumho 771's on my ol' Neon, they did a fantastic job for what I needed, great wear, surprisingly good traction wet/dry/snow, wore very slowly. They were not very gradual with grip transitions at the limit of adhesion, but that probably has something to do with the mile of sidewall on a 185/70 tire.

I suspect Kumho makes a very good tire all-round. The Ecsta MX is supposed to be very, very good, so long as you dont drive it when the road gets a bit damp [:)]

We have 711's (215/45-17) for our summer tires (use 7 mos or so a year). I'm guessing they have over 25K on them maybe a little more. The rears show some inside tread wear from when our camber numbers were too high. We're thinking of flipping them on the wheels and rotating them to get some more wear. I think we can get another 5K or so. I really have nothing bad to say about them especially for what they cost (very inexpensive compared to other tires).

yeah i am looking at the ones on ebay "215/45/17 ECSTA 711 87H" i've heard great things about these tires and their grip. but what about wet traction? i also heard that some people only get like 20k on them but don't know what tire series though.

i think the ecsta line of tires are good. my only experience with them is the V710 R type race tire, but I like those alot.

V710 is a GREAT tire.

I compete against an Integra that uses them and he gives me fits.

I ran the Kumho street tires (ASX) on a Firebird and they are a great street tire.

Really good bang for the buck.

the ones i listed above... are they good for wet traction? i bet anything is better then what i'm using right now. bald and cords hanging out lol. my tc light goes nuts when it's wet out.

Look on tirerack.com, they have ratings for that sort of thing...the ratings look pretty dang good all around, even in comparison with some much more expensive tires. The only thing is that they don't have quite as long of a treadlife warranty as other tires.

So I have another question--do you think it's worth it to spend the extra $17 per tire on the ASX's over the AST's? The ASX's have a 30,000 mile treadlife warranty and the AST's have no treadlife warranty from what I can see...any and all opinions welcomed and appreciated (thanks for the ones so far).

I have a set of Kumho Solus KH16 tires which replaced the junk OEMs on the car when I bought it last summer, 34K miles on the odo.
"They are amazing" is correct. I researched on Tirerack.com before purchase, and for price/performance I don't know how I could have done better. It should be said that I wanted really quiet smooth riding tires and that's what I got, but so far no complaints about grip in wet or dry either. These weren't available in 16", so I decided to stay with the 15" alloy wheels that were on the wagon. If I still have the car when the tires wear out, I'll reconsider going 16" with whatever Kumhos are available at that time.

The only complaint I've had with Kumhos is (please don't ask which ones, they're in storage and I can't remember) that they can be a bit noisy. But in bang for the buck they'd be hard to beat. And the ones I have on my summer rims are actually quite good in the wet - I get to hydroplane test them on the Taconic State Parkway...

I have a set of Kumho Ecsta AST all-seasons in 205/50 16. I bought them because they were the cheapest tire (aside from Goodyear Eagle RS-As) Tirerack sold...last summer some low-life stole my set of black EAP 17s and I had to get some all seasons before I went on vacation (I had already cooked my set of snow tires for two months beforehand.) Their only redeeming quality is they have very low treadwear...other than that they're all-around horrible at everything. I ran my car in an auto-x with them on and I had the constant feeling of almost losing control the whole time. But for under $60/tire, what do you expect? Get the right tires and they'll work great.

Kumho 711...STAY AWAY. I worked at discount tire for 4 years and we carried kumho and the only reason we carried the 711 was for all the ricer kids so they could feel cool with a directional tire even if in most cases it only lasted like 4000 miles before it started couping on the edges. This tire is junk and thats why it only costs like 70 dollars. As for the ast they are decent but soft sidewalls....the mx is really the only way id get a kumho, and i wouldnt get that..lol This is all my opinion and based off of my observation for my years with discount tire.

I have a set of Kumho 732s on my wife's focus (15" ones), and Ecsta ASTs on my focus (16" variety). First selling point was the price. I did some reading up on them on Tire Rack and they got decent reviews, and that definately sold me on them. They both handled very well in the rain & snow up here. A little slipping here and there, but thats to be expected.

I'll see how well the ASTs can handle autocross in a few weeks I hope.
