I have a 2010 Ford Focus with the standard Duratec 2.0 liter engine (not the PZEV engine); it also has an automiatic transmission I know the car has a 100k mile tune-up, but when exactly should the timing belt be changed (like 90-100k)? The Manual says something that at 150k if the belts have not been changed, do them at that time... my concern is that would the timing belt make it that long??? I know for older Focus vehicles ,it was more like 60-80k.

So when should I consider changing the belt. I don't pull trailers or anything, but I do drive on the highway a lot more than the average driver (around 30-35k per year, so 90k/100k comes up sort of quickly for me).

^ What he said. I can't say you will never have to worry about changing your timing chain, but if your chain is bad, you have more problems. Drive it like you stole it and have fun along the way.

I'm at 149k miles on the 2.3... I guess we shall see how long this chain lasts. I only drive about 10k miles a year though so it should get me through college and till I can get a new car.
