SVT PCV valve location and replacement

Pretty sure I need a new PCV valve. Where is it? Under the header on front of engine correct? What is the tube going from valve cover by coil pack to airbox? Mine is wet with oil by airbox and I also have oil coming down my bellhousing. Can I just put a breather filter on valve cover?
Any and all info is appreciated.
Thanks

I'm not aware of any brand being better than the others. If you do change it, be sure you also replace the rubber grommet it sits in and the hose. Those are usually the things that get brittle and leak, not the valve itself.

As Tom pointed out, the valves themselves rarely fail. I only replaced mine when I went to a turbo setup as this requires a different valve if you retain the PCV.

Alright thanks for the info. I have to spray down the engine and bellhousing with engine degreaser and figure out where the oil is coming from. The oil is on the driver side of engine below valve cover by coil pack and down the front side of bellhousing, just not sure where its actually coming from. Also dont know why its wet by breather tube connection to airbox.

So it sounds like I just need the tube and grommet and not a pcv valve?

Oil leaks in the area by the coil pack can often be from the valve cover to head join. That rubber gasket will harden and leak over time. Sometimes it will even leak after removal and refitting.

If you confirm it is leaking there, I've had success with a new gasket and going over the top machined surface of the head with a fine file, carefully removing high spots and roughness left from the original machining.

Yeah that definitely is what is going on because it also looks like coolant on bell housing and I have tiny little puddles of coolant under my car until the reservoir gets to the minimum line then they go away. So I will be doing a valve cover gasket and thermostat o-ring this weekend then.

I should be able to get that o-ring at any parts store?
I also read a thread a while back about the thermostat o-ring and it had info about getting a higher temp rated o-ring?

Thanks again guys.

There are 3 o-rings that are part of the thermostat housing. The sensor on top of the housing and the plug on the bottom of the housing. These o-rings are made from butyl rubber, I believe, and usually last me 2 years before replacement is required. These can easily be replaced by Viton o-rings, which should last longer (2 years and counting) and are cheap. The other o-ring mates the thermostat housing with the block. This seal is usually only a problem because of oil leaks. Oil leaks cause swelling and deteriorating of the o-ring rubber and if left unchecked, will break the housing, which will require complete replacement. I believe the bottom plug takes the #203 o-ring and the top sensor #109.
I purchased the small Viton o-rings from a hydraulic supply store, but the large main o-ring would be a dealer only part.
Search, there are lots of threads coving this issue with more than a few perspectives.
Good luck...
