It's done...

So hopefully, I'm in the clear for the rest of the life of the car...I don't feel like dropping anymore cash into the car, unless there's modding involved! [:D]

I still, however, have 10k miles left on the warranty my dealer gave me on the New Clutch TSB...that's the only thing I'm really worried about.

Anyways, ROck on guys...thanks so much for being the best focus site in the universe! I've learned so much great info on this site, and thanks to you guys, I've spent more on my SVT than I thought I would!! [;)]

No way is this goodbye! Just realizing that there is no longer that fun little 'forcefield' surrounding my SVT everytime I get in to go drive it...[:p]

^^^ I know exactly what you mean and that's how I will feel when I reach the big 36K mark. However, I do have a 10 year 50K mile powertrain warranty so it the engine or trans decide to go south before 50K I'll be ok.

BTW, when I first read the title of this thread I thought you went FI, too bad THAT'S not the case huh lol

*sigh* I wonder how much extra I would've had to spend in order to have another little 'bubble' around my SVT for another 14k miles... oh well, now I get to have my tune! ...how's the hypnotic tune treating ya, jaykirs?

It might have run you $1500 or more I think, that sounds about right. I like my tune for the most part. There is definitely more power and it doesn't go away when it get's hot out and it's been in the high 90's here in Houston! Before the tune, my performance went straight into the toilet when it got hot out but not any more! I love it, I just wish the surging between 2K and 3K RPM's could be taken away without losing some power but I will say this. The surging isn't real bad, my car doesn't buck and shake me around in my seat or anything it's just a little surging. Other than that, no problems to speak of, the car runs great!

I would recommend Hypnotic's tune to anyone wanting a new tune, Wayne is a great guy and he will work with you if you have an issue with it. I really think you are going to like an aftermarket tune, best bang for the buck for the SVTF period! IMO

Funny that you posted this today. I just purchased an extended warranty from Ford today for the factory BASEcare plan which covers 84 different things according to the contract. The car will now be covered for another 4 years or until 100,000 miles. I have 35990 on the car right now. I was just thinking of letting it go and hoping for the best, but changed my mind after what happened two weeks ago.

I'm in Boston for the summer and while I was driving on the highway, first the radio shut off, then the gauges suddenly went to zero, and finally the whole car just died. Like I said, I was on the highway and I was going about 60. Luckily, my friend was visiting and he was driving behind me in his car and I called him quickly on my cell and he basically slowed down to hold off traffic while I used what little momentum I had left to make it to an nearby exit. We managed to push the car out of the way and tried jumping it and it worked...for about 2 seconds.

Had it towed to ford where they found out it was both a dead battery and alternator. All the work was taken care of and I had the car back a day later. I was pretty upset that there was a bad battery and alternator considering I've only had the car for 2 and a half years, but the ford people were pretty nice about it. If this had happened only 500 miles later when the car broke 36,000, I would have been out of luck and the repairs would have run me around $800.

I have never had any problems with the focus up until then and it turns out that there were a lot of other people who had that exact same problem too. I've got a Zetec ZX5, but I haven't really heard of problems like this with the SVT models. Love this car and really didn't feel like giving it up over this one incident, although it was dangerous and if my buddy wasn't there, I might have gotten into a pretty bad accident. All my friends were telling me to get rid of it, but I just couldnt listen to them. They just don't understand how much fun it is to drive everyday so I'm sticking with it for the long term, but got the warranty just in case anything else wants to "die" on me.

[:D]

haha, my odo. reads about 36020 right now. hit the 36000 mark on my way to work this morning. can we say hello engine work? but i've still got the extended warranty on the drivetrain, thank goodness being i'm on my second tranny already

My 2003 SVT came with a 5 year 100,000 mile drivetrain warrenty..... didn't yours?
Of course mine done for as well...... turbo's tend to do that[:D]

#13 ·
^^^...hnm, I never figured that the SVT would come a with drivetrain warranty. I shall have to check that out with my dealer. Oh, what I wouldn't give to have my warranty die with a turbo kit! [:D]

a bit of good news, i havn't had anything warranty related except for my o2 sensors since 36,000 miles and that doesn't cost more than 1500 bucks so as long as you took care before, you should be fine. Good luck, I've been warranty-less for 10,000 miles now.

The 10/100,000 warranty was added mid way through the 03 year. It depends on the sale date, if you have it. Mine had a card with the manual that says: 10 Year 100,000 Mile Powertrain Warranty for Flordia*. Then at the bottom, it says the asterick means it applies in all states.

Yeah, I took care of that before warranty went out...it's good to hear that other people aren't having problems after their warranty went out.

Now, I'll just wait here until someone comes along with a horror story about how they went bankrupt a few days after their expiration...[rolleyes]

Yeah...mine is at around 35200 right now, so it's up on the auction block...I figure if I'm going to have a car without a warranty then at least I want something that's a little more dependable and a little less finicky than this thing.

just got the bad news 300mi out of the warranty! alternator shot!
300$ plus labor, ouch!
Yeah, I keep hearing more and more complaints about the SVT's poor alternator/electrical system...crap, I hope mine lasts. $300 does not sound affordable right now...do you have any sort of add-on stereo equipment such as amps, bigger speakers...or maybe a UDP that could be making the alternator work harder than it should?

no aftermarket mods yet, still stock, i was waiting for the warranty to exp.

but the service manager did work out a deal for me(problaby felt sorry! 4 ttl warranty jobs inc. tsb clutch!) basically they are treating this as a extended warranty even tho i didn't buy one.
120$ deductible[:)]
i havent seen the work order yet, dropped the car off w/battery light ficker when coasting,
they said 1.5 hours, been 3 days,no rental
[:(] must be extensive.
