I agree on that, back home in SD I we always had to the a SUV/Truck for hauling, offroad and getting through the snow. Otherwise the car is the one driven the most and I had more fun with the small cars by a long shot.

I sort of did the SUV thing but it was before the term was around. I had a 93 Bronco, Eddie Bauer Edition. My only truck was a Ford Centurion which was basically a 4 door Bronco on a 1 ton frame with a built 460 under the hood. It scared little cars.

I have the best of both worlds. Drive my focus for fun and economy. Keep my old 4x4 ranger running for snow days and hauling.
And my wife has a Xterra Off Road for 4x4 fun, just wish I could have talked her into the manual tranny on the Xterra.

My other car is a red 2LT C7... Summer only.
It will get (beleive it or not) 34 - 35 mpg on the expressway if you take it easy

Just turned 44 on Feb 21st, and bought my first ford... 2013 focus HB titanium...err..dct *gulp* (just heard about the tranny problems)....still driving compacts, was hoping to buy a big truck, but except for a 5 year period, I have always seemed to have to commute to work a fair distance, so compacts is where I stay (plus I heard gas is going to climb way back up again by summer, '15).

I starting driving late, was in my early 20's before I got my license... I started modding my first car, a new 1996 Pontiac Sunfire...way before FATF
and all that crap... bought the first hellwig rear sway bar kit, the first Koni red adjustible shocks/struts for j bodies... the first set of Eibach lowering springs...that batch was defective, the prokits sagged to over a 2.5" drop..had to work with eibach to fix them...then a rksport header and was hooked on modding cars ever since.
