SCT XCal3 Tuner Questions

Need some of your expertise here. I'm trying to buy an unmarried XCal 3 SCT tuner from somebody who has the same year car as me (his is hatchback though) with the exact same mods. Only difference is his door code is SFV5 and mine is SFV3. The tuner was purchased from FSWerks with 3 preloaded tunes, but then he took it to a local shop who erased those tunes and did one custom tune while on the dyno. My question is even though the numbers don't match would his custom tune be compatible with my car seeing as they are the same year and same mods? Pic below for reference.

Tom (1turbofocus) should see this post soon, and he will provide you good and better advise than I... until then, here are 2 cents...

The door code (sticker) represents the Tune (aka Firmware) that Ford installed into the PCM when new. There are no hardware incompatibility issues between the the 2 cars/2 door codes you are talking about, so, yes, you can install that Tune into his PCM and into your PCM. This assumes the Tune built for that car was created properly, and has no human errors when it was created. That said, we need Tom to review my comments, -my assumptions.

It is my opinion that anyone who installs a custom Tune should update that original door code sticker with an additional home made sticker that says something like "Custom Tune is Installed".

Tunes are very personal, and one Tuner (person) does not create the same Tune as compared to the next Tuner (person). It is almost like two great Chefs cooking Spaghetti & Meatballs in a competition. Each dish is very good, but you like one of them better, while I like the other one better. Then, a third Chef comes along and says their Spaghetti & Meatballs recipe is better than both of the ones we just tasted.

Here is the Tuning Area->

To answer your question YES SFV5 to SFV3 will load to each other

The NO , He got a custom dyno tune for his Focus , that isnt going to work well on your Focus , you will run richer or leaner , your engine wont like the same timing his engine likes , I would NOT run his Custom Tune on your Focus even if you have 100% identical mods which thats an impossibility there is always differences like you have a SFV5 vs his SFV3 strategy

Those 2 strategys are of the same family and will load to eachother but the change from 3 to 5 Ford did to correct something in the strategy , could of been for emissions or ???
