Ok guys just recently did a 2.5 swap. Engine is from a 12 fusion with about 2k miles. Ill post a video but the car has been sitting 2 weeks and after jumping it it sounds like a rod knock again. It has a cossie knock off intake so no tumble flaps. I dont have a throttle cable so i cant drive it maybe it needs the oil circulated better? Oil level is full and has bs delete. Any input would be appreciated

Very simple indeed, bolt & plate to hold the o-ringed plug in place.

I'm just king of the 'stupid questions' to get them out of the way, some HAVE actually removed the balance shaft assy. WITHOUT blocking that oil gallery.

Well to adjust the valves, you need to pull the cams. Did you measure the clearance of each intake valve? intake is the one likely to be out since that is the cam that needed to be swapped but doesn't hurt to check both. Also did you use the right exhaust gasket? there are 2 different versions: 1 for pzev, and 1 for non-pzev. You should be using the non-pzev one. You can guess how i know about that one [wrenchin]

a decent OBD2 reader will tell you all of the necessities of the engine from oil to fuel pressure to temps in full readings.. one thing i learned never engine swap without one. they are good for more then just clearing mil codes..

even after my cars come back from mechanics and the dealers i always give the car a full run though with a full readout of everything..

This does not sound like an exhaust leak at all its definitely internal. But I used the stock one from the 2.3 when I did the header because the gasket the obx header came with seemed like poor quality. On my mustang the oil pick up fell off from the block and developed a tick. I replaced the rod bearing and had great oil pressure again. The oil light should be on if it doesn't have enough pressure but maybe it doesn't work...Might do a compression check and take off oil pan and see if anything is obvious but the noise sounds like its coming from the top also.

Check my build thread, I have the measurements in there for the intake cam. Though they were well within spec when i replaced the cam. does oil light come on when you turn the car to "on"? easy check to see if bulb is out. Though the light won't show unless you have VERY low oil pressure. Likely to late at that point. You did check the oil right? ~6ish quarts with the BSD.

That diesel sound just reminds me of the gasket issue i had. Might be worth checking out, especially if you used a really old gasket.

ya these things are noisey. hard to tell where noises are coming from.

Yeah it has oil, it was a nice surprise it takes 6 qrts now. It is a junkyard motor but looked so clean internally. When we did the first start we primed the oil pump until the oil light turned off. During the first initial idle I did notice a slight knock but it was so minor and I didn't hear anything after that. The afr during idle is perfect and wot needs work but I have not beat on it due to running issues. I think I need to stop worrying about it and start tearing it apart. Ill do a oil pressure, compression check, then if I have to- inspect rod bearings. If crankshaft looks good I think Ill be good replacing all the rod bearings. Honestly itd be easier doing that then taking it out and taking off all my mod parts and trying to find another motor.

phones have cameras, take a short video of the noise.. i know for a fact focus engines and i don't care what line all have distinct noises. the the zetecs have a very common noisy clatter from the upper end and ive seen sooo many people pull heads off, to timing belts change cams when the clatter is from a noisy injector rail.. all my focus had it many people assumed my injector clatter ment it was a diesel xD yes in ways it sounds like a diesel..

this video you can hear what i mean.. but please take note the video was for another help thread on some of the engine fan controllers and how you can actually force the engine cooling fans to switch on and off via the throttle
P.S. i knocked on the intake resonator as it was one of the rare ones with it and my friends in the background were laughing its its uhmm STYLING

nah i wasn't implying yours was any of those. im just saying everything has distinct sounds..

that does not sounds like lower end, it sounds upper end like somethings not set right..

my video was also taken about 8 years ago on my first wagon that was wiped out by a head on collision months after xD that was the most diesel sounding 4 cyl gas engine ever xD i could of passed that car off as diesel as even the people asking about its engine during emissions said they thought it was a diesel xD..

I had ford look at the motor before i understood the injectors were common to be noisy and they said the engine was perfectly fine

Been really busy with work but the mechanic said its definitely upper end noise not rod knock. Going to check all tolerances on cam, if buckets are off I may buy a new intake cam and then buy the buckets accordingly to the size I need if that is possible. If not I might take it to a local machine shop and let them check it out.

Sounds like said, like normal injectors plus maybe a couple loose tappets, those engines make noise even when 100% right.

Measure bucket clearances and forget the cam change unless there is lobe damage, bucket change alone otherwise will fix it as good as it can be fixed.
