Recall vs. TSB vs. FSA???

I'm really trying to keep up with the recalls and overall health of my Focus. I checked the "etis" site and on my profile it lists the following:

Outstanding Field Service Actions
12S29 - PASSENGER SIDE WIPER MOTOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR
12M01 - RRANTY EXTENSION
12B37 - , AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE

When I log onto the Ford owner website and go to the "Vehicle Health" page and click on the "Recalls and Field Service Actions" it only lists the wiper motor issue.

Is a recall the same as a Field Service Action? If I call the service department should they be aware of both recalls and FSAs associated with my car? I'm just trying to get the language down before I call and speak with my service department.

There are a couple threads involving the 12B37 FSA. Apparently there's more to it than just an ABS module update and, in fact, the PCM and ECM are also updated and the changes appear to be aimed at drivability and the DCT.

The early word is that this update has improved the way the DCT operates making the car drive more smoothly...

As far as i can tell... TSB stands for Technical Service Bulletin. This is for a condition or change that's not serious enough for the NTSB or Ford to issue a manditory recall for it. The factory may repair it free (outside of warranty) but any TSB's while still in warranty should be covered (if applicable to your car)

FSA - Field service action - This is a manditory repair (for all intents and purposes a recall).. its just Field Service Action sounds better than recall does from a Public Relations standpoint. Ford can issue FSA's on their own or the NTSB may require them to do so if it can be a safey issue that can lead to an accident.

+1 to the above.
As I found out:
- A TSB is a technical document for technicians to aid in either diagnosing or repairing a problem. NOT mandatory AND is only performed IF you are having the actual issue described IN the TSB.
- Recall is a mandatory action
- FSA IS a recall.

I've had no change in MPGs so far that I can tell. Driveability is a little better but mine is not without its continuing quirks.

Field Service Action is not a Recall. But a Recall is one kind of Field Service Action.
Generally, Safety, Compliance and Emissions Recalls do not expire; an affected vehicle remains eligible until the repair is completed. However, other types of "Field Service Actions" typically have expiration dates and may also have mileage limitations. This type of information is included in a letter sent to the owners of affected vehicles.
