Quick 6-speed tranny question

Yes I just got a 07 STS focus the other day that is minus a drivetrain and some body damage. What I am working on right now is the drive train. I was wondering if the 6-speed transmissions that came in the 03 focus will bolt to the 2.0 or 2.3 duratec??

Well, I'm sure it can be done. The 07 Focus still uses the MTX-75, correct? If so, that transaxle bolted to the D23 as well as the Zetec for the few years they coexisted. I imagine it would be pointlessly expensive and complex, but the links kinda work out in my head...

The MTX-75 has a removeable bellhousing. There are different bell housings for the Zetec and Duratec. The Getrag doesn't have a removable bellhousing IIRC, and can only be mounted to the Zetec block.

Its a straight bolt-on operation, there was some slight tuning that needed to be done so the ECU would understand the signal coming from the 6 speed gearbox, but the Getrag will bolt right onto any Zetec because the SVT shared the same bellhousing pattern. You also had to swap out the shifter and the ends of the transmission wiring harness.

Darn, I really wish someone made a 6speed tranny for the duratec 23.
Hmm, here's a dumb question......

If the MTX-75 has a removable bell housing, is it possible to find another tranny with a removable bell housing?
I guess what I'm getting at is can you use the MTX-75 bell housing on another tranny that has a removable bell housing as well.

I know, I know it sounds stupid, I'm new to this stuff.
Maybe someone could shed some light on my ill-fated logic.

Not usually. First, the bell housing will have to bolt up to it. Then you might have to get a custom clutch if the input shaft is different. Then you have to worry if the half shaft's are compatible.

Transmissions aren't usually plug-and-play.

ive been looking into it and if you have the 2006+ suspension the suspension and trans will swap over from a mazdaspeed3, might take a top hat swap on the struts but if you keep the hubs, axles, trans, etc from the ms3 itll bolt up to your focus. i believe if youre doing that swap anyway itll fit in both mk1 and mk1.5s
