i did a bit of searching, but it seems everyone is having the OPPOSITE problem as me.... my zetec is idling way too high from time to time. ill be driving normal, and come to a light or whatever, and when i throw in the clutch, and brake, my idle will stay at like 2000 rpms. sometimes it even starts to creep up. today i was at a red light and it got up to almost 3200. i was thinking maybe its my TB, but why would it start reving higher if my Tb is sticking?? maybe MAF?? i have an AEM short ram, and a magnaflow catback, but no other engine mdos. any ideas??? thanks- charley

It may be your idler screw on your tb check that first, its a common problem.

is there n e check engine light or battery light? have you done n e thing to the car recently and then u noticed the problem? people may say its a leak but if u didnt touch the tb or intake it shouldnt be that. if its not that, i would ask how often it happens. it looks like u have a 2003 so it should be under warrenty? idk b/c it coudl be w/ the ecu... but if its not throwing a cel, i doubt the dealership will even take a look at it.

i had the exact same problem, it was the idle control valve (IAC). your fortunate, my car would try and idle at 4000, though when this happened i was driving cross country so it meant that i didnt have to use the cruise control as much. like i said, the IAC is the most likely problem, your car is acting the same way that mine did when mine went out.
