Platinum 104's gapped to .065, MPG goes way down?

Just wanted to get some ideas here.

I tried running the Autolite Platinum 104's with a .065 gap and saw my idle smoothed out a bit, plus it pulls a little harder mid-range. However, I've noticed that I'm only getting about 275 miles a tank now. (was around 320 before)

Do the plugs/gap really make that much of a difference? I'm not smelling it running rich. Should I try running a smaller gap? Do I need to be concerned about the O2 sensors?

I'm going to put the stock plugs back in tommorow and see if there's a difference on the next tank.

Im running a .055 gap on mine with a little improvement in idle and mileage is about the same.. Id try .060, .065 might be too much

try swapping them w/ copper plugs. Platinums plugs have more resistance. Or, you could try gapping them to .60 and see how that works for you.

bottom line, platinums are the worst conducting plugs you can get.

Go with the copper 104's, they have been tested and are recommended by most duratec modifiers!

Update:

I changed out the Platinums for Autolite Copper Core 104's and gapped them to .060.

Engine is much more peppier, pulls strong in the midrange. I'll report back when I've run through this tank of fuel and see where i'm at in MPG.
