Pedal Commander

Anyone using or have any knowledge of benefits from a pedal commander on a n/a mk3?

I have Tom's tune, but curious if this would provide added benefits on top of the tune or would just be a waste of money because I could get the same benefits from having the tune adjusted.

Thanks

A pedal commander is a superficial way to provide a performance increase feel. The short answer, how it works is it modifies the TPS voltage signal, and that's it. It opens the throttlebody valve sooner at a lower pedal position, giving you the feel that it's It doesn't increase hp.

The long answer, your throttle position sensor (TPS) is based off of 0-5 volts. 0v=no throttle, 5v=wide open throttle. The factory pedal to throttlebody vavle ratio is essentially 1:1, 25% pedal is 25% throttle open. For sake of explanation, let's say 25% throttle represents 1.25v on the TPS. 50%=2.5v. 75%=3.75, etc. All a pedal commander does is modify the voltage, so if you put your foot at 25%, the pedal commander outputs 1.3v or 1.4v or 1.5v, which in turn opens the throttlebody valve sooner. You'll reach 100% throttle vavle open at, say, 80% pedal position.

It will change the way you feel Tom's tune and decrease the travel required to "get on it" but will not increase your numbers.

Sorry about the delayed reply.. but that was very helpful! Thank you a bunch for the reply! Sounds like I'll spend that money elsewhere [emoji1360]

For some background info: that function is there to help smooth out drivability while driving. A lot of people tend to twitch their foot (without being aware of it) resulting in a constant on/off at light loads. It also is supposed to help fuel mileage since the quick jabs don't result in more fuel being added when it really wasn't intended in the first place.

Whether or not you like that functionality is another topic.

I can't comment on the pedal commander in this regard as I have no experience with it first hand, but if that functionality annoys you, then by all means, invest in one....it is your money, after all. [emoji6] It may be more worth your time and money, however, to see if that is something that can be tuned out of the ECU with a tune, since the chances of you gaining actual HP increases is pretty high compared to what the pedal commander does. (Look into a Tom's Tune on this forum).

And it also seems like replacing the throttle body with the 63mm gives you a similar effect with throttle response. Although you can't tweak it at the push of a button, but you know what I mean if you have this mod.
