Am I missing something or there's no car alarm on my Focus? My key has no alarm button, and my friend pushed my car and pulled on the doors when it was locked and nothing happened. [???:)]

What you're missing is in you're owner's manual. Its called perimeter alarm.

Hmm, mine has a panic button on the key. Also, if you don't have a parameter alarm, the car is still set to alarm if: 1. you locked the car using the key's lock button and 2. the person entering the car attempts to do so without using the key's unlock button.

You have to roll the windows down, close the doors, and lock it with the fob. Reach in through the window and open the door. A countdown will start and after so many seconds(see owner's manual) the alarm will go off.

It doesn't go off due to someone trying to open the door with the handle (thank goodness) - no one can break into a car by doing that, and who wants their alarm going off every time the passenger jumps the gun and tries to open the door before you hit the unlock?

It only goes off if someone were to break the window or force it with a jim and open the door from inside, which is how car thieves actually break into cars.

A perimeter alarm is the kind that annoys the entire neighborhood in the night because a passing squirrel triggered it, and no one pays attention to anyway.

In fact I would love to be able to disable the panic button on the fob, hit it accidentally in the dark once and really pissed off a neighbor. Is there a way to turn it off?

Well said! The alarm on our Focus will also go off is someone with a key unlocks a door locked with the button - those of us without a Ti anyway.
