I just replaced the passenger side motor mount on my 2002 Focus SE wagon. There is still a slight rattling sound at times. I want to know if I've torqued the bolts enough. Here is what I did.

Three bracket bolts 35 ft lbs
Two engine mount bolts 65 ft lbs

Can anyone tell me if these are the correct totque settings? Thanks. [strongman]

did you use the ford OEM motor mount or some cheap one??

if you used the cheap one.. they just send you the acutal rubber part and not the whole assembly so you have to attach it correctly to the old brackets

IF you did order the entire OEM assembly from ford .. and it rattles .. it means that the motor mount BROKE .. take it off and check for play in the mount..

I just did mine and torqued all the bolts to 35 ft-lbs

OK here is the little trick that has not been mentioned in any forums I've reviewed describing changing the passenger side motor mount. Hope this will help someone else. Fasten the new mount to the bracket. When re-assembling the mount-bracket unit, partially thread all bolts (3 bracket-to-body and two mount-to-engine. Now make sure the engine is lifted just high enough so that the two bolts from the engine are not too tight and binding where they pass through the mount. You will know you are there when there is ever so slightly some play in the new mount-bracket assembly. Tighten the two mount-to-engine bolts FIRST. THEN tighten the three bracket-to-body bolts. If you do not do it in this order, it is nearly impossible to completely snug up the mount to the engin and it will produce a rattle. There! [thankyou]
