Need Help With Spark Plugs

I've searched the forums and keep getting a lot of results for Duratecs, but what about the Zetec? It seems to be the opinion of the board that copper plugs are generally better for the Duratec, but again, what about the Zetec? I've called two NAPAs in my area and an Advance Auto, but they only have platinum and double platinum. Do I need to specify the plug is for a different vehicle or what?

I just bought the car from a forum member less than a week ago and it has had some work done to it as well as a 93 performance tune from Tom. I'd appreciate it if someone could verify a spark plug part number from either Motorcraft, AutoLite, or NGK. Here's a list of the mods:

Ford Racing Stage 2 Cams
Fidanza Adjustable Cam Gears
BBK 65mm TB
AEM Short Ram Intake (K&N Filter)
FocusSport Spark Plug Wires
JBA Shorty Header
Random Tech High Flow Cat
Bosal Flex pipe
Focus Sport Stealth Exhaust
Ford Racing UDP

So the Motorcraft AZFS22C's would be good for my application even though the car isn't an SVT or forced induction?

Also, I see you have a Mustang. Although it has the non-PI heads, I'm sure you're familiar with the spark plug blowout issue of the 99-02s. In 03, they solved it. Anyway, Mustang guys say to torque the plugs to 13 lbs without anti-sieze and 15 with anti-sieze. I've read here on the boards that 11 lbs. is standard for the Focus, but should I bump it up a couple pounds if I use anti-sieze.

MotorCraft AZFS22C f4 SP 463 copper plugs is what I use as well. Great performance, cheap price. Sure I'll have to change them in 20K...but they're on top of my engine. Big whoop!

That's what I love about overhead cam engines. The last time I changed the plugs on an overhead valve engine, it was on my '98 5.0 Explorer. I had to remove the wheels and inner fenders and use an assortment of small exentensions and universals in order to get to the back plug on each side.

When I cross reference the Motorcraft part number on Autolite's website, I'm getting APP5364 and APP5344. Any ideas?

Really? This is somewhat of a shock as I've never heard anything bad about Autolite. Bosch is another story, but usually Ford guys say that Autolites are the only things they would use other than Motorcrafts. I've even heard in some instances that the Motorcraft plugs are manufactured in the Autolite facility. I'm not sure if this holds true for all part numbers.

Would you care to elaborate?

OK, school me. I called around to all the parts stores this evening trying to find the copper plugs and no one had them. [hatchet] I ended up getting the Autolites cause I am going on a short trip tomorrow (about 1.5 hours each way) and wanted to see if I can get this miss out of my engine at low revs. Am I going to regret getting these? Why? I've never been a big fan of Autolites, but they are better than a lot of others.... I also have numerous mods, so are these not going to run well in the car?

I used NGK copper almost exclusively on my old Datsun 240Z...they were great for about 17K and then they began to get all soupy.

^Yes to all, far as the Focus is concerned.

There have been numerous accounts of the porcelain and electrode breaking off. I haven't paid attention to if all Bosch plugs do it but I know the platinum and double platinums will.
Only thing I've been able to attribute it to is heat range is way wrong.

And I can attest to them doing engine damage:

The rough areas are where the electrode bounced around in the cylinder. Far as I can tell it just made things look bad. But like hell if I'm gonna take that chance again or recomend anyone else do the same.

I can only recall ever reading bad things about Bosch plugs. I first became aware of this after purchasing them for my Explorer and then reading the many horror stories associated with them on a very highly regarded Explorer forum. Fortunately, the short time I owned the Explorer after I installed the plugs, I didn't have any of the problems, but I would never consider purchasing them again after reading about fouling issues, poor performance issues, and porcelain cracking issues. I feel it was only a matter of time.

so im guessing since i couldnt get my hands on the Motorcraft azfs22c' right now i grabbed some autolite app5364 since they did not have the xp5364 for the time being from reading iminhell' thread on how to choose the right spark plug are these going to reach too far into the cylinder ?
