Hey so I am leaning to go all motor and just making the engine better..

My main question is. How much HP/TQ can the stock ATX take.. I don't feel like replacing it.

And on the other end anyone has an idea (ballpark) how much HP and TQ can I possibly get from a NA 2.0?

u need to mod the tranny to get all the horsepower you can get....... the ATX is not as strong as we need it to be. You can mod as much as you want but the tranny has to be modded to make the best out of the power increase. My guess is you can get more than 150 hp maybe the 200hp.

Wayne,
no I just want to drive it on the street... I want to invest a little bit and maybe one day do an AutoX, but that is not the aim of the plan.... the plan really targets a fun-er preppier focus in the street..

(That's why I resist transmission mods. The labor costs on that would be too much for this goal)

Like almost everything performance upgrade wise I am finding for my '05 2.0 atx, a lentech auto tranny is ghastly expensive. In addition, I read that you should figure six hundred to a thousand bucks just to have it installed. So, around $2500.00 for the total Lentech trans (the cheapest one) and install. That, my friend, is a LOT of money. Thinkin' of just going cai, header and exhaust on my car, now, since doing anything more might bother the trans and cost me plenty.
Dperessing, yes.

Just had my 05 ZX3 ATX dyno'd yesterday at FS. I pulled 118.1 HP/ 235.7 TQ. Don't quite understand why mine is so different than everybody elses.[???:)]

235ft-lbs of torque at the front wheels of an auto focus is not correct.
The mods I am planning right now are cai, manifold for 2.0 when it comes out, header & exhaust. Oh, yeah, and an sct2 computer. These mods should increase the crank bhp by about 45, putting total output to about 180. Still 20 short of my goal of 200 after spending about $2,000.00.
However, if I go any more than that, it will cost much more as I'll likely have to then upgrade the tranny. So, unless I want to spend at least $3,000.00 on further upgrades, it looks like 180 shall be my limit.

but do you think Ford would keep this sectret if it was true?

think about it... we do not have a Truck.

The Torque conventor does do TQ*2, but by the time it gets to the wheels it is onlt 135. The Trany is rated to 270TQ but again that is at the Torque convertor.

I would love to have 235 ft/lb but that is simply not happening.. I can see an improvement thanks to the XCal... I heard people like HIA etc. cane work magic with ATX through that baby, but I doubt it's 235...

But don't get me confused. I WILL jump up and down like a little girl if somehow that turnes out true... because unlike many other people I couldn't care less for HP but LOVE torque.
