STREET: Most Powerful/Fastest Production N/A Gasoline 2.0L in the World?

From an earlier thread, I think the SVTF may very well be the most torque ever made on a production 2.0 with 145ft/lbs, and the RSX Type S close behind it at 143. For time saving purposes I'm only listing the top competitors in non-Ford markets

Ford Motor Co
2.0 SVTF Zetec - 170hp & 145tq
2.0 Standard Zetec - 130hp & 135tq
2.0 Duratec - 136hp & 133tq (lol @ the radio duratec kid talking shit when the 2.0 liter zetec actually makes more torque than his 2.0 duratec)
Mazda 2.0 Series - 150hp & 135tq

Chrysler/Mitsu
Neon RT - 150hp & 135tq

Volkswagen (almost all their engines are turbo 4s or larger displacement/diesel)
2.0 n/a gas I4 - 115hp & 122tq

Honda/Acura
RSX S - 210hp & 143tq
RSX Standard - 160hp & 140tq
Civic SI - 160hp & 132tq

Toyota/GM have the same plant as their top contender (although their N/A 2.2s are still weaker)
Toyota jointly developed this crossover vehicle with Pontiac. It utilizes the Celica 180 hp engine, re-rated to 164 hp in accordance with new SAE regs. The automatic was dropped after 2003. Facelifted in 2005.
Matrix XRS
164(180)hp & 125tq

and according to slips posted on dragtimes.com - the RSX type S is the fastest production 2.0liter 4 in the world at 14.7-15.0 with the SVTF close behind at 14.9-15.2

A stock SVT dipping under 15 would be a stretch, remember, people type their own times in there.
it's from FocusInAlaska's posted drag slip here. That he's stock is his own word, but I'll take him on it that in Alaska's dry cold weather an SVTF can knock 1/10th off on a great run :)

I've personally seen plenty of slips/vids for the RSX Type S

Would have had to have been under damn near perfect conditions, but I am not saying it cannot be done.

The RSX-S is kind of all over the place. One time you see them around 16 seconds, the next 15. they do well with an aftermarket intake and exhaust though.
I think with a car like the RSX-S it's more to do with the drivers, like any other rice rocket it's attracted a lot of spoiled 'Mommy buy me this' types that go to the strip before they learn how to shift let alone launch.

In the area I live in I see more STI/EVOs rolling around with idiots who can't drive it well enough to beat you past the first shifting point if they're lucky enough not to stall on launch

^^I don't know of any 2.0L rotarys...

There are actually a lot of production N/A 2.0L Diesels that have a lot more torque. The Pugeout 2.0L Diesel in the 206 makes 190lb/Ft. DIN. I know you put "Gasoline" in the title, but I just wanted to point that out.

The E30 M3 made 170lb/ft, in 1988! In fact, there were BMW 4-cyls making more than 145lb/ft, with less than 2.0L, in the 60's and 70's. Not to mention that the M14 engine (E30 M3) block was actually used in their turbo F1 engines, which reliably put out about 1500BHP. No, that is not a mis-type.

Link

I think that there are quite a few 2.0L engines out there making a lot more power stock than the SVTF.

And yeah I wanted to exclude rotary/diesel engines.

Carrera: I read that same site when I was looking for this info, but all the BMW 2.0's were actually inline 6, not 4 that I saw.

Wait I always thought the S2000 was supercharged??
You thought wrong. [:p]

Though I've always wanted a Supercharged S2000, a professor at my college has one that he tracks. [:(]

well the s2000 isnt winning anymore, for 06 they are shoving in a 2.2l engine instead of a 2.0, but actually i think its the civic type R that wins it, im not sure if its charged, but in that link with the honda engines in it it says it had 200hp and 200lbs/ft of tq. But honestly i jsut went to the honda site and was surprised....why would anyone buy a honda s2000 when its priced at a starting 34k....alittle pricy if you ask me. If you wanna spend that kinda money and wanna get a performance oriented roadster with good handling....buy a used porsche boxter, or a vette

I will conced that some are I6's.

But they never put 6's in the 2002s, so that's definitely a 4-cyl.
