Loud Squeaking Noise coming from Rear Tire

I have a 2007 Ford Focus with 70,000 miles on it. I recently just had to have my passenger side hydraulic motor mount replaced. Drove it for about 3 weeks while it was bad. Then after that start to notice it's shifting a bit hard into 3rd gear, and have an appointment with dealership on Monday to diagnoise. Now today, as I'm driving in the city at about 25MPH, I start to hear this terrible loud squeaking noise coming from somewhere. Everytime I hit a bump, it made it go off. If I was on flat road with no bumps, I didn't hear it. So when I got home, I started pushing around on things inside the car to see if I can duplicate the noise. Everything looks fine. So I'm about to decide it was some weird freak occruance, and after getting groceries out of trunk and slam it down, I hear the noise! So I start pushing down on the trunk, and I can now pinpoint the noise to somewhere coming from the rear passenger side tire. Any ideas what could be causing either the tire or something the tire is connected to or in the area to squeak loudly when there is pressure put down on it? 3rd problem in a 2 month period, do the problems ever stop once they start with these cars??

I've had squeaking on the drivers side rear exactly as you describe. When it started back in the Fall, you could barely notice it, but there was also a clunking noise from the front when backing out of the driveway. Brought it to the dealer and they performed the TSB 10-8-5 (see the suspension section for more info).

The TSB repair fixed the popping/clunking, but not the squeak. The squeaking got slowly worse, whenever you hit a smooth bump. Two days ago, we took a 250 mile trip where the squeaking was so loud I could hear it over the stereo. Was about to call the dealer, when yesterday, took the car out and not a sound. Drove around some more, and no squeak.

Then, I found this clip or spring-like item under the rear of the car on the garage floor. It's about the size of a penny.

The garage floor had just been swept up two days prior to remove sand and salt. So, I'm pretty sure this wire looking spring thing came from the car, and may have been related to the squeak.

Maybe your squeak is coming from the same place. Does that wire/spring look familiar to anyone? I'll be climbing under the car to look at the the opposite side to see if I can find anything that looks the same. If I find anything, I'll post it.

BTW, my mileage is just over 29,000.

I've had the EXACT same clunking noise for over a year!! It sounds/feels like something is loose and moving around and its coming from under the car in the front while accelerating from a stop and coming to a stop - that how yours was? If it is a TSB is it repaired for free or how much did it cost? I have an appointment with the dealership for this squeaking noise next Saturday, and was going to bring up the clunking type noise when I brought it in also, might as well get both done at the same time. I went out a bit ago and sprayed WD40 on the spring and the bolts where the sound is coming from, and went for a drive around town. At first it was still squeaking like it was, then stopped for maybe 2-3 miles, then came back but not as severe as it was oringally. It's annoying because now I have the clunking/thumping that I've had for over a year, and now this squeaking noise on top of it.
One other thing I might mention, is I was getting on the highway and hit a bump at about 30MPH, it shook my car pretty bad but it seemed to drive fine all the way home. Then when I got into the city and had the radio off is when I first started to hear the noise. Kinda forgot about the bump, but after I remembered it thought that might be somehow related. It was the front driver side that hit the bump though.

I just bought a used 06 ZX5 with 114,000 on it and there is a terrible noise from the right rear quarter area as well. I removed my sway bar and lubed everthing, removed the right rear shock and lubed everything, sprayed all the rear suspensin pivot points with WD-40. It went away for about 5 minutes. Driving me crazy. my 03 with 206,000 on it didn't sound this bad ever. Still looking. I checked the exhaust and it looks good, can't get it to make the noise when I'm not driving it.

I believe it's a bushing back there not sure what it's call though. I was looking under the car and pushing the car up and down as much as I could and it was coming from a bushing.

rzimmerman30, check the holder for the e-brake cable just forward the passenger rear tire. It's a loop type holder and it wears through the rubber coating of the e-brake cable housing. I slipped a piece of tubing into the holder and no more squeak. As for the clunking noise in the front, try replacing your sway bar end-links with Moog or Durolast brand links. They have grease fittings.

Just an update on what this was. I noticed a clacking/knocking type noise coming from my engine today. So at lunch at work today, we went out to take a look at it... I go to pull the hood release latch, and on my 4 year old car, the lever comes right out and the wire breaks. So I can't close my hood and the lever is broken, so I took it to the dealership after work and told them about the squeaking noise too so I could hit 2 birds with one stone =) Anyways, he came back out after about 30 minutes. He said the good news was the squeaking noise was the e-brake lining and it just needed lubricating. So plex, you were correct! The bad news is it cost me $270 to have them fix/replace the hood latch and they would lubricate the e-brake for free. I'm going to pick my car up in a couple hours, so hopefully it's all working!
