Any good pics?

I have a 2005 SES ZX3 that dosn't light up. I think it may only on the four door models.

I have a Black '05 ST and none of these, power locks or window buttons, have ever lit up. I always thought it was a dumb idea that Ford left these unlit, in a black car it's a pain to find these switches. I'll have to try this and I'm going to ask the dealership why they didn't hook these up in the beginning.

well the dealership wouldnt have the answer.. its just like asking a store why they dont carry a certain product line or particular brand. i know its a little different but u get what im saying. The sales guys have no control on why they left it out .. its the designers :p

Nikedude you have a pm.

Guys,

watch out when you try this. I was messing around with mine and I blew the fuse that controls the front power windows. It would be a good idea to have a box of 25 A handy. If you can also try to have a voltmeter/potentiometer to figure it out. I will try to post a tutorial, you can also wire it to the window lockout switch, but please never touch those wires together or you'll blow the fuse like I did. I can't get it to work yet, please confirm the terminals on both switches were you have to make the connections...

Thanks!

I did this to my passenger side and now the switched is ****** [:(]

I took it apart and went to put it all back together and something must have happened to the little brass tabs that "click" when you press the button to lock or unlock.

Anybody else encounter this problem and was able to fix it?

Ok, quiksilver. Can you give me a step-by-step, with some pics, and what wiring did you use.

I'm really not good at automotive elctrical, so any help is appreciated.

I did this MOD and I also changed the colors of the LED's in the locks, window and headlight switches. It was very easy to do. If you are not sure where the wires go use a test light and a multi meter to probe the wires. Here are my photos.

What gauge wire did you guys use? What resistance? what core material?

From the window switch to the door lock switch I used regular 16GA automotive primary wire. You only need about 12 inches between the 2 switches.

I'm no electrical genius, but when I used the wrong resistance wiring when I was hooking up my stereo, it got totally [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]. Will 16ga auto primary wire have the right resistance? If not, what should I get. I have a brand new car, and am not looking to [:)][:)][:)][:)] it up right now, lol.

there is a resistor all ready hooked to the LED in the lock switch. LED's do not need much power at all and I am sure the resistor will take care of any excess. I have had them hooked up for a month and no troubles so far. Use multi strand copper wire not solid core.

oh, this $hit is getting tone TODAY!!!! I thought they ooked like they lit up......thanks, even though I am the LAST ONE to know about this [hihi]

you guys ROCK [thumb]

Hey Bluey, you may have sat in a Ford GT lately, but I sat in a Porsche GT, so there. And I revved it up. didn't get to drive it though.

Also, I'm getting wiring diagrams from the dealer, for the locks and windows, I'll scan em in when I get em.
