2003 Duratec 2.3L PZEV-certified (modded)

 

Ill show mine when i get the chance to get a couple flix, but lets state what they are, 2.3 or 2.0 or pzev or anything else. I want to see if there is any differnece.

Thats weird... has anyone noticed this before... am i weird for not noticing before... the 05s are different from the 03 and 04s. they have a black cover on them or something? or is that a 2.0 , 2.3 difference or something?

Also, you last 2 are NOT PZEV cars huh? I was noticing on Duratecer's car, his header looks more accessible than mine... you guys lack the evap canister there above the header!

Hey, also you have an electrical connector dead center there on the top, whereas my car doesn't have one there, it's over on the passenger side, to the left and back of all the coils-on-plugs... and yours don't have that little silver circular "knob" in front of the engine either, it's right where your connector is... curious.

you also have vacuum lines going to your intake manifold that i do not

 

the 2.0 doesn't have the variable runner geometry that the 2.3 has.

ill get some pics of my dura later but i was wondering if anyone is making and engine cover or working on one for the duratec yet. I would love to be able to cover up that crazy mass of cables, lol.

I have a theory on an engine cover for our motors, correct me if i'm wrong but the mazda 3 has an engine cover, I'm sure with some clever workmanship you could debag it and mount it on our cars, from the pictures I've seen it looks like it should work.

 

That's a going theory, I'm not sure anyone's actually gotten their hands on one and tried it though.

hey fellow stangnetter! i just picked up a 03 zx3.

 

I did a google on mazda 3 engines and came up witha cover for the mazda3 engine cover. it looks like all you need to do is debadge, and cover up where the M was. that would really clean up the engine area.

And yes, very cool site indeed. It gave me alot of inspiration to some stuff to my focus. i can't leave well enough alone.

 

well this just proves one thing, no matter what ya do, the duratec is one FUGLY mess of wires and cables!! lol. i liked how blue, and duratecer's looked. hard work keepin 'em that clean.

 

05's all have black valve covers, cosworth is working on an engine cover
