What matters is fine dust.
If you have a great abundance of fine dust blowing around all the time.. then I would avoid using a filter like the K&N.
If no dust or very little only occasionally.blowing around.. then you are fine.
This is my opinion.

Yes you will be fine but I recommend you pair it with a hydro shield from injen or a prefilter from outerwear.

well according to wavsine's chart, i guess the K&N is a bad idea, but maybe wavsine made the chart up, lol

 

Also from everything I've read the charts is bs, they dump ungodly amounts of crap at the filter that you'd never experience on a daily driver unless your driving with the filter outside the car in the saharra during a sandstorm.

And I beleve the OP stated just that, he lives in the desert.

 

I wasn't trying to strat anything with you, was just stating in an odd way that he should be okay unless it's a dust storm every day. The filter shield or wrap is probably a good idea if he decides to keep it and wants extra protection.
