Has anyone else noticed that the thermometer in the instrument panel only displays even numbers above 100 degrees? I've seen 100, 102, 104, 106, 108 (highest I've seen) but no 101, 103, 105, etc.
Hello fellow wncarolinian. South Avl myself. So I'm right down the road from yaI noticed mine was hopping by two degrees a few days back. It would go up and down every few seconds. I have to assume it's a conversion. Funny, though, considering in diagnostic mode all temps are displayed in hexadecimal.
Pretty sure it reads in Celsius and converts to Fahrenheit for our market. Don't know if it reads (reads, not displays) to the degree or tenth of a degree but if it reads to the degree these would be the conversions:
38C = 100.4 which rounds to 100F
39C = 102.2 which rounds to 102F
40C = 104 which is 104F
41C = 105.8 which rounds to 106F
42C = 107.6 which rounds to 108F
Don't know for a fact that is how it works but just a theory as the numbers seem to support it. Could just be coincidence that you are in this temp range right now in your area. I have seen odd numbers at lower temps.
Ah, but any odd numbers between 100 and 108? I need to see a shot of that to blow my theory all to hell. I checked before I left work and a local site was reporting it as 93 F but the car read 104 F when I started it up. 91 F when I pulled into my driveway.Car read 113 when I left work. As it adjusted to the ambient temperature when moving it went through 111, 109, 108, 102 and 100F. So at least I know that my car isn't fixated on even or odd temperatures, although once it stabilized for a while it was exactly 100F today.
I was driving and not shooting pictures with a cellphone every time it changed so I can't confirm or deny it, but it did display odd and even numbers above 100F up to at least 113 F when I started the car. I only have Sync with MyFord, not MFT in my SEL though. Maybe that makes a minor difference?Ah, but any odd numbers between 100 and 108? I need to see a shot of that to blow my theory all to hell. You are exactly correct, when I questioned why my temp wouldn't read certain numbers, this answer came from the Ford engineering department. It's converting Celsius to Fahrenheit. If you switch the display to read C, it will display every number. Lazy programming if you ask me.Pretty sure it reads in Celsius and converts to Fahrenheit for our market. I completely concur!Lazy programming or lazy of the US to still be sticking to the system their former Imperial masters imposed on them while the rest of the world has moved on? [poke] I kid, I kid [giddy]
The Metric System rocks!
...and very similar to the picture in post #11 of this thread.Odd number, taken on the 4th.
Sorry dude, the metric system sucks. Ive lived in canada my whole life and can't stand it, don't use it.Lazy programming or lazy of the US to still be sticking to the system their former Imperial masters imposed on them while the rest of the world has moved on? [poke] I kid, I kid [giddy]

I also find it particularly ironic that the us who declared independence from England kept their system, while England itself abandoned it for the demon spawn known as metric.
Ya huh, I stand by my comments [thumb]Demon spawn?? What? [80?]
Metric makes so much more sense, a tenth of a cm = 0.1 = 1/10 = 1mm = 1 marking on the ruler. If I want to know if water will freeze I just check if there's a "-" sign on the thermometer!
1/10 of a foot is 1 1/5 inches and an 1/8 inch = 0.125in wtf? Using an Imperial ruler is good for only one thing ... teaching kids how to add fractions better (but to be honest I don't even think they learn that properly these days).
What I don't like though is the way we measure our fuel efficiency ... it should be similar to the US MPG but should be kpl (km's per litre) because we want to know/estimate how far we can go based on the markings on the fuel gauge.
That said ... I have no clue what my height is in metric!![]()
Works how? If it rounds a conversion from C to F, 111 would be expected. Can anyone show 110 since 43C rounds to 109 and 44C rounds to 111?Mine works it seems
