I am in the process of installing a filter relocation kit mounted right next to the original oil filter location.
Two reasons why I am doing it:
1. Prevents oil drainback from the filter mitigating terrible starting noise especially in the winter.
2. Allows me to use a variety of filters I have sitting at home most of them oversize with the same threads as the FL-400s.
The kit came with rubber hose but I decided to use 1/2 Aluminium hardline (3003 versatube used on planes) and AN hardline fittings.
The filter mount is attached to three vacant threaded posts that were already there on the engine block using 50mm coupling nuts as spacers to an Alumium plate to which the filter mount is attached. I used spacers to clear the CV axle. I just finished it but forgot to take pictures. It works beautifully.
The kit itself is from Jegs and cost about $50 and the lines and fittings were from an aircraft parts supplier. I can give details if you like.
