Yeah disconnect the battery for atleast 10 minutes. I dont think you need to push in your lighter, i dont see how that would do anything.

ya i didnt kno about that... but it worked lol. i took off the battery cable... waitied, and then put it back on and started the car. the light was still on. so i took it off agian... waited about 5 minutes, pushed in the lighter and it made a sound ( just the sound of the lighter sliding into place im pretty sure ) and then reconnected the battery. Started the car, no check engine light, and a freshly HOTT lighter :) lol

Yeah I had to push in the lighter and I also made sure my left signal light flashed three and a half times before I pulled off the positive cable.....

Picking up the sarcasm??

Just disconnect the positive cable, leave it for a while, I did for the entire install I did (about a half hour) and then wala, your ECU is reset.....

The ECU just resets itself back into the learning mode, I make a point to reset the ECU any and everytime I add a new mod or have any service work done.

LOL I thought you had to push in the lighter, honk the horn and flash your lights 3 times. [hihi]

Please feel free to ignore me, I'm bored and just posting my thought on the subject. [;)]

R&D....u got it all wrong....flash the lights 3 time....push in the lighter...and THAN honk the horn.....haha...im bored to

Haha, so flash the lights 3 times, push in the lighter and THEN honk the horn. Okay got that. [:D]

I do wonder, how long is long enough before the ECU is reset? 10 min, 15 min, give or take a few min. I also go for 15, just to make sure, but hey I could have been saving myself some time if 10 min was long enough. Hmmmmmmmmmm [idea]

Crap is that funny, haha. I wasn't seriouse about the lighter, haha. But you did it any ways hahaha. Sorry, I was in a jokeing mood and just didn't think any one would actually do that.

lol i left it off for about 30 minutes while i cleaned my air filter, and air box ( was pretty dusty ). It was cool how the guages went all the way to there farthest point... stoped... then went back to 0. first time to see 160 on my speedo :p

You can do that by just pushing the trip button in then start the car, then select through the menue by pushing it. Speed,Rpm, dash lights, gauges, bla bla bla.

This is the test program for the factory ECU showing vehicle data on the trip meter. It's technical use is to show real time data and engine codes. It doesn't show all codes but basic codes it will do. Did you even know it was even there? I use the mph to show exact speed cause my speed o is off by like 5mph at 65mph. The rpms are actually lower than what the tach says to. I thought it was accurate but at 3,000rpm it's off by 3-400. so I just use it to give acurate rpm readings and mph.

FYI

For real, when you disconnect your battery (pull the NEGATIVE) and then push the brake. When you push the brake pedal, it drains out any minor volts that may still remain due to a light grounding somewhere else. Serious. At least thats what my old Miata shop manual suggested (that was for air bag removal, actually) but still....I do it every time. And again, I am SERIOUS about the brake pedal.

Hey now, NO need for the idiot remark although it wasnt needed info at this point it's not cool.
Actually you press the trip button in with the car off and hold it in. press in the clutch and start your car. keep holding it in for a couple more seconds and you will see the trip reading start flashing, once it start doing this release the button, and the gauges will sweep all the way up and back down, then you can push the button and select different functions. I think after you push it the, 6th,time that is speed mph,7th is kmh,8th is RPM, and voltage is some where in the after that. and cam position, crank position and wich maps the ecu is on after that. It shows a lot of info I just don't want to type it all out though. Youll figure it out though I did. oh and Some where around the 20th push it show the position of the long rail and short rail,on off basicly.

dang man thats crazy... i had no idea. thanks for tha info, im gonna mess with it in the morning. you cant adjust stuff rite lol, i dont wanna screw something up ( im j/k like i was with tha cig lighter thing. everyone took me seriously it seems ). well anyway thanks, thats awsome to have digital readouts

unfortunetly you can't adjust any thing so don't worry about messing any thing up. I thought you actually did the lighter thang, I didn't see the lol after it but I looked again and it was there.

Thats what it's called thanks WD I couldn't remember the name of it, I just call it another toy to play with in the car, iether one would do.
