To remove the bigger lamps on the back corners, pop the trunk and remove the plastic covering. Locate the two black nuts, unscrew and remove, then push/pop the lamp out. Don't forget to remove the light bulbs!

As for the center ones, you'll have to remove the upholstery (or whatever) from the underside of the trunk lid with a Philips screwdriver. Unscrew all of them and when you remove it, you'll see some familiar black pieces. Unscrew those and maneuver the lamp out. You'll have to get the tips of your fingers under the lamp and wiggle it out. Be patient and you'll understand how to remove them. Don't forget to remove the wiring!

If you want to remove the center brake lamp, after removing the trunk upholstery, look up toward the underside of the assembly and you'll see two black clips close to the edges. Press them in and push the lamp out after you remove the wiring to free it. Not hard at all.

If you want to pop the reflectors out as well, you'll have to get under the car and apply pressure to the pegs holding the reflectors into the plastic in order to literally eject them. I found a nut driver helps...

Do three light coats with the Nite-Shades and follow it with three clear coats, waiting until the paint no longer feels sticky to the back of your hand in between coats, and that's after you wet sand the lamps with 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper.

I'll attach photos of my lights for a reference so you'll kinda know what to expect, but it's your car, so do what you want! I've seen way worse than some tinted tail lights out there, but I believe you could negate the dimming effects of the paint with LED bulbs but still have the blacked-out look. I had a Charger behind me today and his headlamps were as dark and black as the rest of the body, but I'm sure he has HIDs or something similar.

is there a way to replace the reverse lights without removing the assemblies? I tried doing it from the trunk and I got the socket unlocked but the I can't get the whole thing, with the bulb, out... it seems the bulb is bigger than the hole... wtf?

The owner's manual states clearly that the light assembly must be removed from the car to change the bulbs.

Hi All, I'm new to the forum and I just recently purchased a 2012 sedan. I'm trying to remove the center taillights on the trunk to replace the reverse lights with LED's But I only see one wingnut on each side not to like everyone has mentioned. Is there another wingnut hidden Or are there any other clips that need to be removed? I know everyone has mentioned that it takes a little bit of wiggling and patience and I'm ok with that I just wanna make sure I'm not forgetting to unscrew anything. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Once ya remove the wing nut, ya have to pop it up gently, there is a ball/socket style mount under the lamp assy, but you should be able to change the bulbs without pulling the assy.

Just unscrew and pop them out if you still need help pm me I can help over the phone it's really not that difficult the outside ones are rough to get out I took a plastic piece of scrap and GENTLY popped the outside corner. The ones on the truck need to be wiggled out. You can remove bulbs once you remove tails. Goodluck

Finally got the lights out on the sedan. The key once you remove the (1) wing nuts is definitely to pull, and more importantly cuz i was afraid of breaking it by pulling, so I pushed from inside the trunk. There are 2 black looking nubs that that hold the pins in, and if you push from inside right around those nubs you will be successful in loosening/getting the lens out.

I also successfully replaced my reverse lights with these

iJDMTOY 360-degee Extreme Bright Plasma High Power Error Free 168 194 2825 W5W 912 921 T10 LED Bulbs

They look really good, the only thing that is bothering me is the yellow surrounding the LED housing. I saw great reviews on this bulb so I went with it, and may end up keeping it just because, or return it for one with a white/silver housing.

Thanks everyone for your help.

So i tried to get the reverse out again and failed lol . I am aware I was doing it wrong when I asked last time lol. looked at the owners manual and it said to see dealer. anyways I took the 1 nut out. gave it a wiggle and yes it looks like there are one or two "nubs" -as you all called them - holding the assembly in. I cant seem to squeeze it with my fingers or with a needlenose. I'm afraid to push it out from inside the trunk the assemblies will fall. some help? thanks

how hard do you have to push? I know that's very subjective lol

the plastic and stuff look much weaker than it actuallly is. i was afraid too, at first. after the two screws are off you just rip the whole assembly out. i started on the inner part and got the whole thing off except that little corner, at which point i pulled even harder and it popped out just fine. with these you disconnect the harnesses after you pop the assembly out. be careful :)
