so it didn't completely stop working however it does not work all the time. When i push the lock button it will sometimes give me an audible sound from the horn and sometimes it won't. I will push the horn pad on the steering wheel and it will once again sometimes work and sometimes won't work. when i do push the lock button on my key i can hear a click coming from the engine bay which i believe is the relay.

the front bumper of my car was recently hit by a flying piece of plywood that flew off of another vehicle, no major body damage, just some slight scratching. is it possible that the plywood hitting my car caused something to happen to the actual horn itself?

thanks

Yes a hit on the front of the car could have damaged the wiring or the horn(s).
Car horns are really cheap junk. They hang off a thin metal bracket, and the wires are pushed on via more cheap connectors.

So I would suggest checking the horn(s) themselves for damage, or a loosened connection.
My experience is with other Ford horns.. Not actual MK3 horns.. So I do not know exactly where under the front they are. Most typical location is below the headlights in the fender well.

Our C-Max had the horn stop working about a month and a half ago. It turned out to be the relay. But it was totally dead

If you're hearing the click that comes from the fuse box under the hood that's the relay and you need the horn itself replaced. Been there done that. If you're under warranty or have an extended warranty it should be covered.
