Hi, I hooked up faulty hids into my car(without knowing they were faulty) but whenever i would turn the high beams on it would blow the stock 15A fuse, so i got the recommended fuse for the hids which is a 25A fuse, and then i found out the ballasts were defective so i pulled the whole system out and im shipping it back but i put the regular halogen bulbs in and now my regular highbeams are still blowing the 25A fuse thats in there, what could be the issue? i have checked all the wiring and its not shorting out anywhere, does anybody have an idea??[idea]

You need to check the wiring again. I am not sure about official numbers, but I think the chances of failure types are something like this;
<<based on what you have said and done>>
97% of time it is an error in wiring
1% of time it is space aliens
1% of time it is my ex-wife
1% of time it is the high beam relay or relay socket

BTW - Now that you have re-installed the stock lights, put a new stock 15 amp fuse back in. Burning 25 amp fuses on a 15 amp circuit could cause an assortment of exciting sounds and smells.

Low beams work normal right?

Disconnect both headlights then try high beams again, does it still blow the fuse?

Oh wait, I just remembered that each headlight has its' own high beam fuse. So your single blown fuse has already identified one side (left or right) is bad, while the other side (without a blown fuse) is good.

One REAL simple check for the bad wiring.

Disconnect the headlights, put a SMALL fuse (5A) in the socket, and it that blows when you turn the high beams on you can be SURE there's a wiring problem from the bad lights & large fuse you used with them.

After that it's electrical tracing time, someone needs to do it before they're fixed.

Got my handy dandy new paperback wire diagram out, for the 2004 models...
<< got her on ebay fur like 15 bucks including shipping, but took 3 weeks to get here >>

Based on your comments about the 15a fuse (for high beams), your car is different than mine. Because of this, please disregard some/most of what I have said. Sorry if I mislead or confused you. But, is your 06 really that different?

My car has one fuse (F2.59 is 7.5amps) that has ultimate control over the entire headlight system. If bad, none of the headlights will work. Also the headlight system has 4 other fuses that protect each light Low beam and each light High beam (so another 4 fuses and all are 10 amp).

This thread link has some wire diagrams, shows fuse numbers & locations and this might help you, but it is info for the 2005 model ->

If you have an owners manual, or if you look at the link above, which fuse number on ur car is blowing up?

If visual inspections are not working to find the problem, you need a multimeter and the wire diagram for your 2006. A fuse that keeps blowing is easy to isolate and repair if you have a multimeter and the wire diagram.

Maybe someone here will come along and tell you the how-to's of this circuit on the 2006 and if not, maybe you could ask your local repair shop to "just show you" the wire diagram info you need.

Either way, good luck and let us know what you learn and how it gets fixed so others might benefit from your experience.
