I have a problem with high coolant temperature, which happened to me recently on the highway. It is Focus 2002, 2.0 Made in USA, Automatic, Petrol/LPG. Upon further investigation via diagnostics I found that the fans turn on at 112 degrees Celsius (233 F) and turn off at 103 C (217 F). The thermostat opens at about 100 C (212 F). According to the Hayness Service Manual, the start of opening of the thermostat should be at 92 C (197 F) and full opening at 99 C (210 F) degrees (I don't know if this applies to USA models). The temperature (driven on gasoline) at about 120 km/h (77 MPh) was about 125 C (257 F) while the outside air temperature was about 25 C (77 F). When I was driving on the highway 2 days ago (at an outside temperature of about 35 C (95 F), it happened several times that the pointer came and even started to enter the red zone, so I had to switch from LPG to gasoline in order to the pointer was a little closer to the middle. At one point, on gasoline, at a speed of about 95 km/h (59 MPh), the car no longer received gas, so I switched back to LPG, where it accelerated normally. When I stopped and checked with diagnostics, an error appeared on cylinders 3 and 4 (probably from overheating). Now it runs ok on gasoline, but the problem with overheating remains. The antifreeze was replaced 2 years ago and it lasts for another 3. The thermostat and water pump were not changed, and the hoses were elastic. Tried to describe the problem in detail, if anyone has any advice, I thank them in advance.
