Hi,
I have a 2003, with the 2.3L engine which now has 120K miles. The car runs great!!! Smooth idle, no hesitation, smooth at high RPM, no hissing or sucking sounds under the hood, good gas mileage. My problem is the Check Engine Light in on, and I am getting the P0171 code. I have read everything on this forum about eliminating the code, and have performed the following steps:
- new fuel filter - no change observed
- cleaned fuel injectors - no change
- new spark plugs - no change
- cleaned MAF sensor - no change
- new O2 sensor (at exhaust manifold) - no change
- new gas cap - no change
- replaced PCV valve and hose behind intake manifold - hose was cracked but no leak observed (that is one nasty job) - again no change noted
- checked for gas leaks - none found
- checked for vacuum leaks (again) - none found
- checked oil dip stick - fully seated
I don't know what to try next??? Again, the car runs great, but I live in CA, and will have to get a smog check this summer.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
