Hello, I am new to this forum. I have a 2013 Focus ST2, and i have been loving it so far. (Coming from a chevy guy) There is an issue i have ran into that i heard is common on the Sync 2 cars. My ACM stopped working so my touchscreen works but i have no audio. So instead of buying another stock acm, i decided to buy a whole new radio. I heard that since i have an ST and have the 10-speaker sony system that i would have to run my sony amp into the new head unit? Is that possible? How hard would it be? I'm a mechanic and work on cars alot but im not too into the car stereo system world. I will link the head unit i was looking at as well as the youtube install guide i watched that was pretty thorough. Any help is MUCH appreciated... I hate doing car radios...

It's gonna be rough.... lol
Have you considered upgrading to sync3?

If you use a different system than fords, you'll be loosing some features like your climate controls and vehicle information and such.
The Sony amp isn't really that good of a unit so even if you have to remove it, it's not that big of a loss.

Ok, if you're going aftermarket, I know you're going to need custom wiring harnesses and such. You shouldn't need to mess with the stock amp. You'll just need to find out who sells those and make sure they'll work for your car.

Over on focusst.org message @brianlovelace
He's the go-to for a full sync3 conversion.

Edit: I'd look on Crutchfield for help. They've been really good with any audio stuff I've ever messed with.

Sounds like my Ford Escape 2014. I had SYNC crashing a few times on me but it always recovered after less than one hour. I realized today that it was way back on firmware so I downloaded SYNC 2 3.10. Update went well but there is no way to go to SYNC 3 without replacing the screen which is something like $1,500 with Ford Touch. I’ll keep mine unless it breaks.
