Im new to modding, my first car, I have an 01 zx3 zetec, planning on getting volant intake, borla cat back exhaust system and flex pipe, with obx shorty header( maybe an svt header but don't know what I need for the conversion) and planning ti get a good tune but have no idea how to do that either, anyone have any suggestions?

personally i would do a FS header or an ebay header and flex. with the ebay you have to bend the egr a bit but it will save you loads of cash. with the svt you have to get (header, flex, cat or cat delete pipe, oil dipstick tube) i think that is it but it adds up for exhaust i would go with a borla with an extra resonator like the trubendz one or a FS stealth. the tune is simple contact turbo tom (1turbofocus) and send him the moola

Im don't really care about how much it is, I'll rather do something and do it the best even if it costs, if I get the borla exhaus and get the svt, all I need is an oil dipstick tube since im already getting a flex pipe and the borla comes with a cat

how does the borla exhaust come with a cat? I believe you are mistaking the resonator for a cat. For a complete svt setup you should get the svt header kit for a zetec. It comes with the header, heat shield, oil dipstick tube and revised egr tube. Also you will need a cat or off road pipe to mate up with you flex pipe.

well no cat is the best but if your under Emissions then i believe Hi-Fow Cat (Random Tech?) would be the best. And def get the SVT header kit for the zx3, I got it and makes the car more fun to drive for sure, worth it.

65mm TB + 2.5" full cat-back exhaust. But are you staying N/A or going FI? That always helps to know. Plus there are 100000 topics on this discussion, search plz.

+1 on the SVT header. I used an ebay header for a week and switched to the SVT with a Random Tech Cat. The SVT header is very nice. The ebay header was too loud for my town (I live two blocks away from the police station.) and I live in a strict-ish emissions area. I still have the ebay header... I should sell it or something.

Cams!!!!

Not sure what you think a "performance battery and alternator" is but I've never heard of either. Lightweight battery yes, Braille. Far as the alternator goes it's just fine.

If you wanted to spend money wisely I'd recommend ditching the 65mm TB for a set of cams as the cams will offer more performance than a bigger hole ever will.

Also this thread seems ridiculous in light of your other thread --> http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=203395
Yes you can have the best of both worlds to an extent but the determining factor in fuel mileage depends heavily on your right foot.

If you dont use anything (radio etc) when the car is off, then you might want the braille. I think they have a battery that is 8 lbs. There are threads on here with info on them. There also around $80 IIRC, so theyre a bit cheaper.

I think the optima batteries have decent reserves so they still have some weight to them. At least compared to the braille and others that are designed only to start the car.
