generic electronic module

I see the "generic electronic module" in ZX5 diagram. Is it same as "ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (MAIN COMPUTER)"?. Is it the box located under hood near window?

No. Electronic control module is the ECM or as most commonly called the PCM (powertrain control module). GEM is more for body electronics like windows, locks, timing issues, etc.

General Electronic Module - located above passenger kick panel

The box under the hood near the windshield is the main fuse/relay box.

Seldom any issues with this, and it controls a LOT in the car.

What is the problem you're having?
Odds are it's not a problem with the GEM, which sits in front of the PCM (on that little swing out plastic arm).

2002.5 there was a switch IIRC.
