Debadging - Why

Why? I can see removing the dealer tag but why does everyone black out FORD, CHEVY....etc ?

cuz it looks sweet.

I'm not into chrome really.

Edit: I think I just completely missed your point, and honestly if I now understand what you mean I agree with you. I don't have any pics of either of my old ST models with the FOCUS and ZX4 and ST badges removed with just the Ford emblem on the trunk. That was a nice clean look with the center ford emblem adding a sense of balance if you will.

I removed the Focus marker and the SE marker off the back.
I simply like the cleaner look. Most folks removingbadges are not taking the Ford oval off, just the model info.
Those markers are really for sales, and have nothing to do with ownership.
Though I wonder if any negative when time to sell, if trading in to dealer?

I took off the Focus badge because it dwarfed the SE badge opposite it. Said SE badge is still there to keep the back from looking too plain though.

Well the 60's era muscle cars were easier to fake, because the majority still had V8's and just a few minor add-ons that could be purchased from the dealer. Only a real stickler could tell the difference and of course the firewall plate would give it a way on the code.

I am sure there is someone out there who converted their S, SE, SEL or Titanium Focus to a ST with all the fascias, spoiler, badges and etc.....now if only Ford offered like what Audi does, "S-Line" or a ST Appearance package.

It looks real til you press the skinny pedal and then those people would look like idiots;I guess this world is all about being fake and pretending you are something you aren't. When it came to cars I'm about being real and proud of what you bought instead of pretending. I get removing the badge of a actual quick car since your trying to mask the horsepower thus creating a sleeper but it seems top be the opposite with low horsepower cars you see more wings and stripes and things to make it appear faster than it is.

I like a nice balance of both and keeping some level of class in my cars. I'm up in the air over debadging my Focus and might just blackout the chrome and see how my wife likes it.

A sleeper ST would be kinda cool shod with SE nose and tail pieces and the boring spoiler then mess with MS3 and GTIs.

LOL! Not to call you out RonMaiden, but your statement kind of belies your bias. It is 'not real' to pose as a fast car but is ok to pose as a slow one? How is it keeping real to have a sleeper? it is still posing, just the opposite way. NOT REAL. If it is ok to pose as as slow car, why not a fast one? In the end, it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I could care less if what I am seeing is 'real' or not. It isn't my car, if I see a car dressed as a race car I think race car, I imagine race car. Doesn't matter if it is or not, it elicits a response. I don't feel cheated if it actually isn't one. Same for a 'sleeper', doesn't matter to me if it is a fast car, I see a regular car, it looks like one, it is one to me, no matter if it is fast. When I see a car fixed up with ground effects and wings and such, I think either that looks cool or that looks tacky, depending on whether or not I like the design, not whether it is 'real' or not. I don't see the offense. We all enjoy our cars as we wish, be it stock, hot rod, sleeper or what have you. No reason to cast judgement on others taste. Some people just want the look of a race car but have no interest in racing, what is wrong with that? Others like a fast car but want the simple looks of stock, still a legitimate reason. Let's all enjoy our cars as we wish and not worry over what others do.

I mostly debadged to clean up the rear and the badges looked weird. Our "Focus" badge is so cool and in such a cool font but my "Titanium" badge was so boring... If they were both in the "Focus" font I would have left them.

its definately a cleaner look.

although i would keep any special badging (SVT, ST, STI, etc) to differentiate myself from the common variations of the car.

Lower model line to. Few people remove top model badges sti, wrx gts, st, srt4, sho, etc there are exceptions to every rule of course. Some people want sleepers.

I did just a partial debadge, took off the stupid flex fuel badge and the SE badge. The flex fuel is just a gimmick so they can get better CAFE scores and the SE font is pretty plain, just looks like an afterthought. I think the look is just cleaner, and you can still tell what the car is.

The flex fuel thing is not really a gimmick given the EPA's desire to increase the amount of Ethanol in ordinary gasoline. It's a smart move for future proofing the car against this, but otherwise they were eliminating the CAFE credits for the "hybridization" of the fuel system.
