the Dpfe is a real good candidate for your CEL, but until you GO GET YOUR CODE READ that's all it is... a candidate...

You won't be able to look at your DPFE and know if it is bad or not... my suggestion is go get the codes read... post them in this topic... and probably dozens of people will be able to tell you what the code is for, and what is the likeliest correction for your problem.

Until you do that, you (and the rest of us) are just guessing

I had my light come on many time for over filling the gas tank, it caused an electrical short Ford said, I said a short in my gas tank, ***** me! Once it was for gas cap not on tight. Since no light now, then no idea of what the problem was, but next time go straight to Autozone or another car parts store and they will scan you for free.

I didn't say that his CEL light problem was directly caused by your DPFE sensor. It WAS just a guess-timation based on the year of his car. I bet that this problem falls in the top five causes for that light to come on. So give me a break.

Anyhoo, if you have a zetec engine, you have to remove your intake tube. There is a large UFO looking thing that is your EGR valve. Follow the EGR tube back to the firewall about six inches and you will see a little black box with TWO tubes running into the underside of it. That is your DPFE sensor. [paranoid]
