I am looking to upgrade my shocks and springs for autocross. I was looking at the H&R touring cup kit and also the Eibach Pro System plus kit. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would prefer not going the coilover route as I am a broke college student.

Good point. If I was to go with the H&R cup kit which would be better, the touring or the sport. Also would this setup require new dampers. As you can probably tell I'm somewhat of a newb, so bare with me please

Make sure you read all the stickied info at the top of this section and lowering and suspension setups.

The H&R is a much better setup for auto-x. The Eibachs are good, but more for street driving only. The cup kit is a 2.5" drop IIRC, the sport is 1.5". I would deffentaly lean towards the sport, a 2.5" drop is a little extreme for auto-x.

First it depends on what class you want to run in. If a stock class, you can't change the springs but the shocks are free. In stock class Koni Sports are probably the most popular shock. If you decide to go for a class that allows spring upgrades adding H&R race springs to the Koni Sports is a VERY popular (and relatively affordable) autocross setup. Before you do any suspension upgrades make sure you have the best (and lightest) wheel/tire combo you can afford. Nothing improves autocross times more than a good tire does.

Eibachs suck for Autox. Take if from an avid autoxer that used to run the full sportline set up.
If you want the best Go with Koni Sports . They are adjustable and are great for Autox and Daily use as well. I would actually recommend the whole koni set up.
Like Geezer said, H&R springs with Koni Sports is also a great set up. But if you are going to do anything, make sure the first thing you do is the Koni Sports. Don't do the H&R shocks. (well you can but the springs are much better paired with the adjustable shocks.)

Somewhere in the mid range. i want to get a good setup but I dont want to put myself in debt. I was hoping to get shocks and springs for somewhere around $600-$700. I am also considering adding aftermarket sway bars.

They are cheaper for a reason. Why get something for stop gap measure. You just have to step-up. Dampers/Tires are where its at. Penske/Koni/Bilstein/Sachs/Ohlins&Dynamic suspension are all dynoed! Try that w/ entry level dampers. food for thought! You did say autoX!

KYB AGX's have had some success in stock classes. They seem to work better with stock spring rates and stock length springs. This would be a good option for someone on a budget, just having fun, and not looking for championships.
